Well..

His particular "racing" method is to force others off track/out the way as I've said. What he doesn't care about is whether or not there is contact. It's irrelevant to him, either the other car gets out of the way or there's contact. His "modus operandi" is the method. I just thought it was ironic that people in this thread seemed to think it was a tinfoil hat suggestion that it's likely Max will take a divebomb and potentially make contact on turn one - when it's literally what he did last year.
The consideration is that if Max divebombs T1 and damages his car, then he won't win the title.

This isn't like where Max could take that approach of racing vs. Lando in 2024 with "I'm going for this move and if we crash/DNF it's worst for you" because he had a lead in the championship. Whilst we know he's an aggressive driver, he's not stupid. He isn't going to risk a DNF when he doesn't gain from it.

I'm glad that option isn't on the table, the largely UK based media would be insufferable, but also if Max wins the title cleanly it kinda puts every GOAT discussion to bed, where as if there were question marks it would sadly diminish a remarkable season for him.

On the flip side would kinda like to see Lando go ruthless, it will set up next season quite tastily. Just hope they are on roughly the same bit of the track for most of the race!

Yes. Of course.

GOAT - I don’t know, but definitely needs to be in the conversation.

The 2010 finale here was probably one of the worst I've ever seen. I expect this to be similar in most ways other than the result is pretty much a foregone conclusion. Without a DNF or serious damage, I don't see how Norris loses it.

it kinda puts every GOAT discussion to bed
Can we not just put any type of GOAT discussion to bed anyway? Makes my eyes bleed reading it.

It's impossible to compare drivers across different generations and different types of cars and different tracks and different regulations etc.

I wonder if Norris is contemplating replacing at least one engine component for reliability, despite the grid penalty, just for reduced chance of a self inflicted car failure.

Absolutely no chance unless he qualifies virtually last anyway for some reason, people only take new components if they either have to or they've qualified so badly that you might as well give yourself a pit lane start or LOL grid place penalty by getting an extra new everything (as Max did in Brazil after he qualified 16th).

The risk reward payoff just isn't there unless you've already fluffed qualifying.

Because of this type of nonsense right;
Na, its because I took you off of "ignore", seen your horrific takes and cant imagine the mental gymnastics you will be delivering this weekend.
Prove him wrong, oh wait you cant without mental gymnastics and things that didnt happen.
The sad thing is, with two suspicious decisions in the last two races from those in charge (floor measurements, 25 lap tyre rule which completely took away McLaren's car advantage), I think everyone is waiting with bated breath to see what on earth they could decide to do to **** this up for McLaren. Nobody I talk to about the F1 IRL has any trust in the FIA or stewards not to royally **** this up in favour of RB.
Got to remember, you came out with this absolute head banging nonsense.

Calling Verstappen the GOAT is nothing more than trolling. No mental gymnastics required, just counting to 7... or 8 if you feel like it.

I think it's reasonable to put Max up there with the greats. Not sure he can really be called the GOAT though. Not yet anyway.

Objectively, Lewis has the stats for that. He's also had more challenging teammates and won a championship in two different cars.

Max has been brilliant this season, no doubt. However I'd hardly say winning the title propels him to the very top of all drivers ever. He's been immensely fortunate that McLaren have had the closest rivalry of all 10 teams (not making that up, they have the closest point totals between teammates, percentage wise).

I must admit I have really enjoyed McLaren allowing their drivers to have a chance without (much) interference and it has allowed for a more dramatic WDC to occur, which when pushing or heavily favouring one driver you'd never see that, its even allowed a third party into the mix, the detriment of their contenders, but the betterment of the sport entertainment.

I don't care who wins this season, I am just looking forward to getting rid of these rubbish cars, and hope the next car design and new regulations allow for more racing, more overtakes, and more close battles between, teams and team mates and with more consistency in the rules being followed to maybe allow the sport entertainment to go up several notches. No point in have 24 races a year if they are pants.

Forgot Piastri is missing FP1 for O'Ward. Might get him a bit fired up! Wonderh ow much of the week the McLaren guys have been reminding them to not drive into each other!

Stupid Sky Go isn't working so can't put the practice on the second screen. And hat tip to the guy at Live Timing who has both both Arthur and Charles simply as "Leclerc".
