Sky Sports F1 rant (no spoilers)

And that's the problem here - Sometimes they cut over a few seconds late after the race has started and they always cut away as the race finishes which is what @iamgigglz is complaining about.

You don't need the Sky Sports package, you just need Sky F1 which (I think) is £15/month.

Then you'll get the full F1 channel with everything.
I can see what you mean however a few seconds delay isn't the same issue and hardly a big deal compared to the feed being interrupted in the important bits.

Sky Sports should give you access to about a dozen specific channels. Does whatever device you're using not have some sort of TV Guide?

Coverage of Practice 1 has just started.

I'm not aware Sky Sports F1 package contains anything that isn't already in the full Sky Sports package, you just need to find the right channel / stream to watch it, rather than ending up watching Sky Sports+ or Main Event
Fair enough. I'll pay more attention to what's available tomorrow.
Pity I'm only learning this lesson with one race to go

I'm using a Sky Stream puck.
When I switch it on I'm present with a consolidated view of everything from all sources, but there's a header menau of sorts that allows me to select Movies, Series, News, Sport etc. If I open Sport I can then choose a specific type of sport (F1, football etc) at the top or scroll down through what appears to be a mish-mash of everything.

AFAIK there's no mention of what channel the various content options are coming from but maybe I'm just not paying enough attention.

I have to say, I like to consider myself a pretty tech-savvy guy but this is making me feel old & confused.

So is the F1 that's included in the Sky Sports package not the same as the Sky Sports F1 package? That's the assumption we made, so we figured paying 10% extra for the full Sky Sports package made sense.
If all you want is F1, kill the Sky Sports package and get the F1 package.

The F1 package gives you everything live, the Sky Sports gives you less, with the limitations you've seen. No build up, cutting away as soon as the cars cross the line.

See above, I don't believe you get everything.

Where are you seeing this? The £23 Sky Sports package on the website says "Enjoy even more of the sports you live across 9 dedicated channels, including Sky Sports+ at no extra cost".

And more specifically "The only place to watch every F1 practice, qualifier, and race live."

I've already said, and @iamgigglz has confirmed. You don't get any build up, any analysis, nothing. The non F1 channel switches over as the race starts (and sometimes partway through the first lap), and then cuts away as the cars cross the finish line. It's the same for practice and qualifying, they give you the absolute bare minimum, nothing extra.

How can you only subscribe to Main Event or Sky Sports+ and not get the separate channels?

I get all of this with general Sky Sports package on NOWTV, no special F1 subscription, you just have to choose the F1 channel instead of anything else that may also be showing the main programming only

Edit - as an example, I can currently watch F2 Qualifying, I think there's a press conference next and then FP2.

I'm sure this is a Sky Stream UI issue and it's promoting main event or + on the main pages, you probably need to dig deeper to specifically find the F1 channel but I don't know the ins and outs of the Sky Stream UI compared to NowTV or a Sky TV box

As you can see here on NowTV, the F2 is playing on Main Event and F1.

If you start watching it on Main Event instead of F1, when F1 moves to analysis programming, Main Event may cut to another featured sport.

You don't need to scrap the full Sky Sports sub and sub to F1 only (for almost the same cost) to get the F1 channel.

Channel 407 for Sky Sports F1. I normally find it quicker to enter the TV guide>all channels>BBC1 and then punch in the number. You only need the sub to Sky Sports for this on Stream. The separate F1 sub is a legacy from when Sky first got the rights and were trying to attract people that didn't want to pay the full cost of a full Sky Sports sub, which was significantly more back in the day.
