You were probably a lot lighter when you were a kid.
I am sure you are correct, that jeans have become less robust over the years. Manufacturing process tend to try and do more with less, which usually means diminishing quality.
they have, whenever I went to view new jeans could notice the difference, when I finally tore up my first jeans as cleaning rags I compared them to new jeans feels so thin they're more like a work suit trouser.
Also I don't buy tight fit (which would stretch and damage) usually straight or regular fit
Wonder if Barbour jackets are using thinner cotton as well
