For $83 billion (had to look it up: £62,155,795,000.00), so you think it means prices are going way up
and more importantly will they have better shows?

Prices won't go way up because they can't. They will however boil you like a frog over the next few years.

Considering Netflix is where media goes to die I doubt it however access to more of whatever is under the warner bros is a good thing for the consumer.

Better shows? Well they'll have the entire back catalogue which has some decent stuff, all the movies from wb, hbo series like got/new harry potter series in production. Who knows what they can churn out going forward, hopefully it's of a better quality than their own ****, won't hold my breath tho.

Bet they try to raise the price of the subs..

Was reading that wb might still to get 'new' stuff premiered on its on hbo streaming service.

Surely Trump will stop this, somehow, and let Paramount have it instead? All the reports I read were it was shor in for the Ellison's to merge this Paramount

So they are double-dipping by keeping the HBO service? lol, this is going make the price of eye-patches and peg-legs shoot up.

I believe they've said they will keep it 'for now'. It's a weird one as hbo max is launching in the uk next year with any new shows would be on there rather than sky (from what i gather any series that are currently on sky will still be there, so house of the dragon s3/s4 will still be on sky for example)

How many streaming services do we need honestly...?
If this deal goes through Netflix will very likely merge the services. The cost of maintaining two separate streaming services makes no sense when they will be looking to make savings and drive up profit.

The streaming market has become way to fragmented some mergers have been inevitable for ages as consumers just won’t prop up all the services. Funnily enough I always thought it would be Netflix that got taken over by one of the old school movie players not the other way round!

Hopefully this will be the start of a reduction in the, frankly ridiculous, number of streaming services and the beginning of the predicted consolidation of the market.

Agreed with peeps here, there are too many streaming services for film. I had Amazon and Disney+ at one point and was considering Netflix too. That would have made it 3 providers and it becomes a slippery slope.

At least Spotify covers 95% of music.

There needs to be something equivalent to film where it covers 95% of films.

We recently announced that Netflix will acquire Warner Bros., including its film and television studios, HBO Max and HBO. This unites our leading entertainment service with Warner Bros.’ iconic stories, bringing some of the world’s most beloved franchises like Harry Potter, Friends, The Big Bang Theory, Casablanca, Game of Thrones and the DC Universe together with Stranger Things, Wednesday, Squid Game, Bridgerton and KPop Demon Hunters.

Ugh, I've been very happy to not have had a Netflix subscription for years.....the only TV I really watch is sports and HBO series. Will be disappointing to have to sub Netflix to watch HBO shows, I hope Sky can hang onto them.

I prefer it to be on Netflix as it's becoming even more expensive my end having to do an extra sub for HBO through Amazon MGM+

But I guess if you don't have Netflix this is mute

The hbo shows that are currently on sky/nowtv will have future series in the same place, its the new ones that won't be, so the new harry potter series when it drops in 2027 will be on hbo max/netflix, ditto the got spin offs currently in production

Makes sense as they probably signed a multi series deal. Which IMO I prefer as I have been annoyed in the past when the BBC for example don't and when something gains popularity Sky will swoop in. Eg with 24

I only ever have one streaming service at a time. So overall, if it goes through, good.

No TV licence either, so don't access this content on sky etc
