Thinking of baby names

You could go with some traditional Dutch names that sound great in English.
Geertruida, Liesbeth, Yvonne, Floor? Then they're not only hard to spell, but also hard to pronounce! It's a double whammy of goodness. (Although Floor is easy to spell, it will no doubt confuse people!)

On the face of it Floor sounds a bad one (why not Ceiling?). But probably because I've been aware of Floor Jansen for a while, it actually seems OK.

I work with someone who is really capable, but has a slightly unconventional name that's not a million miles away.

On multiple cases on mentioning her, the person I'm talking to has shrugged and asked if they heard it right, or why she has a stripper's name.

I feel like this could be a similar situation.

I get that people want to find unconventional names for their kids, but you're potentially creating a lot of headaches for them in the future.

I don't understand why people want unconventional names for children. It's annoying. My name is spelled slightly differently from the normal version of it and it's really annoying, and then I have a double barrelled surname. Just creates annoyance having to spell it all out every time, despite none of the actual words in the three names being anything but normal.

Slightly off topic but my favourite Swedish name is

Hampus. (Ham puss) If i ever get another cat in 100% calling it that.

My dad's name Fred means peace in Swedish I never knew,
I thought it was nice.

I also have a double-barrelled surname, which sounds exactly like "Noel Edmonds".

As a child of the eighties, this caused no end of shenanigans and I quickly dropped the hyphen, using only my Dad's surname "like normal people".

(I'm not ashamed of my other surname - it was purely the soundalike I was desperate to avoid).
