Supergirl Woman of Tomorrow

Not surprised it's got the GoTG feel to it considering DC is Gunn now, does seem that he can't branch out from 'what worked' originally and this looks like even with a different director he's had control over the project.

I'm trying to remember but doesn't Supergirls origin story involve the phantom zone or similar. I was just guessing that was the nature of the setting before she gets to Earth.

Looks horrific and terrible casting, they couldn't have picked a worst actress to play Supergirl... Milly Alcock.... Seriously they thought the first Supergirl movie was a flop this is going to make the first one look like an Oscar winner.

The new Superman movie was terrible too but at least the casting of the main character "Superman" was a good choice, a shame the director James Gunn should not be allowed to ruin such franchises of the past. He really clearly shows he doesn’t care about such movies and treats them with total disrespect.

Craig Gillespie "directed" Supergirl but it might as well say directed by James Gunn on it as it's the same terrible director style used to make these movies.

Anyways new world and all that blaa blaa and just movies made as money grabs now.

I'm actually interested in seeing it, I liked Superman a lot more than most of the other superhero movies in the last few years, and much more than pretty much all of DC's output post Batman Trilogy/The Batman and pre gunnn.
The trailer has what is it, about 45 seconds of footage from what will be at a guess a 2 hour film, and it reminds of at least one of the comic versions of supergirl who was IIRC pretty messed up for a while by what had happened - Superman grew up with a family and knowing what happened to his home planet as basically history, supergirl (or this version of her) basically went from a normal girl on Krypton to seeing it destroyed along with pretty much everyone and everything she'd known, that's almost always going to mess someone up to some degree.

I remember people getting really upset over the stills and teaser for superman a year or so back.

I'm actually more likely to go see this at the cinema than the next marvel movie, which is a huge turnaround from when Snyder was in charge and it felt like everything was relentlessly grim and shot by candlelight;). I have nothing against dark/grim storylines (if I did, i'd have to change probably half my favourite books and films ;)), but some humour/light hearted moments not only make it more enjoyable, but push how grim it actually is, and a teen girl/early 20's who has lost everything is potentially pretty dark.

I thought it was something along the lines of she got sent before kal el, but got stuck in the phantom zone which is why she's younger as you don't age in the PZ (IIRC). I don't want to give in and Google though.

It's not about the strength or powers, it's the attitude.

Stop playing dumb.
the attitude from what is it, 90 seconds of footage :)

I don't know what version of supergirl this one is based off, but as I said, supergirl isn't just a gender swapped superman despite what the original film did with the character way back, she's a character that was a generally "normal" girl who presumably liked to have fun with friends, then her world literally fell apart around her and she appears to have fallen off the tracks and into the drink, a bit more depth to it than "i'm a prettier superman, with boobs".
She's not the "all American hero", she wasn't raised with those powers and taught to be the American ideal, she is/has been in mourning and coping badly with it in a way that is quite human.
