Anyone can recommend a decent card for more storage? What's the max size supported?
Do you mean micro SD card, or are you referring to a replacement M2 drive? (I'm assuming the former). I believe it supports up to a 2 TB micro sd card and there's been various discussions about what brand to go for. Personally, I'd upgrade the internal SSD over relying on a micro SD, and use the micro SD for things like ROMs / retro gaming.

Speaking of retro gaming, I swapped over to retrodeck from emudeck last night and man, it's just so much simpler and easier to set up and use.

Didn't realise I could upgrade the internal storage. What's best way to go about doing that?

I'll add it's very straightforward.

I grabbed a 256gb lcd in the black Friday sales and replaced the SSD today with a 512gb. Less than 20 minutes.

It took longer than that to download the steamos image and reimage the deck.

Agree with others; I grabbed a 256GB refurb and swapped to a 1TB. Dead easy. Probably worth ibvesting in a nice little kit to do it - pry-bars / screwdrivers etc. Makes it all much easier (and I've used it loads for other things).

Steam Deck ready for Christmas! Swapped the SSD for a 2TB before I even turned it on and added a spare 1TB MicroSD for EmuDeck/ROMS - getting wrapped up for tomorrow with a few bits (JSAUX Grip & UGreen Dock) but delighted with it so far in the few little bits I've played.
Certainly came on since I last tried on at launch in 2022.

I gave up waiting for a deal on the idea of an LCD as it wasn't included in the Christmas sale, so splurged on a 512GB OLED as I think prices will only go one way. it is allegedly* arriving today.

The reason for purchase is I've realised that the majority of games I actually play are low system requirement "indie" and are perfect for couch or bed gaming, I also have a massive backlog to fight my way through :)

*I only ordered it last Friday (19th) and didn't expect it until the New Year so will be really surprised if it actually pitches up. I've a screen protector and SD card waiting already.

Edit - I got my dates muddled.
Further Edit - it arrived!

Don't know why I didnt buy one of these ages ago. Can do far more emulation wise than I realised.
Bareky played a PC game yet but again seems more powerful than I expected, looking forward to travelling for work again in January!

Finally got mine on Christmas Day, loving it been tinkering more then playing as I wanted to get emulation setup and working.

Lossless Scaling is a must setup I think specially when emulating stuff, managing to get 60fps on xbox 360 games etc is wonderful :D

When the Steamdeck 2 comes out and I eventually get one, I think I will still keep my Stramdeck just in case as a nice spare :)

Yeah, may keep my steam deck also when deck 2 is released, unless i end up selling it so i can put the cash towards a new gpu before the prices skyrocket, idk though, do kinda love my steamdeck :)

Unfortunately I had to return my deck as it was giving me headaches I just have too many issues with PWM screens.

So I replaced it with this and tbh it’s fantastic pretty much a steam deck 2 and a non PWM screen.
