Hi all,

I've had a John Ryan mattress since 2014, specced medium firm from memory, I'd have to check the model but it wasn't a premium one, cost about £600 back then? If I recall it's about 6 or 700 pocket springs.

Anyway, my wife doesn't like it any more and wants something new, so I've been looking around.

Went to the tempur outlet in Street and sat on a few, the super soft ones felt amazing to lay down on, unsure how that translates after a night's sleep though. They had some comfortable feeling medium firm models too.

Googling for reviews seems to recommend Simba mattresses, any positive experiences?

How are the current line of John Ryan mattresses rated? Still good quality for the £?

I'd be happy to spend up to £2000 if needed, but want something super comfortable, I'm a back sleeper and wife side sleeps typically. Weights are 70kg and 60kg respectively.

Any insight would be great, appreciate there are older threads about but fancied an updated perspective, especially to hear from any long term experiences people have had.

Thanks

Edit: thanks to the mod who moved it!

Mattresses are very personal so it’s hard to say what you like. I like a firm mattress and get backache if it is too soft.

With that said my preference is always pocket springs and none of these modern foam based offering. Having a pillow top on it to create some shallow softness and a feeling of luxury helps the wife who prefers a softer offering than me

It’s hard to tell when trying unless you almost know what you want as comfort in 2 mins in a shop is not the same as a full night’s sleep.

Not sure if it helps but that’s my view.

I prefer coil springs over foam. I would imagine foam sticks too close to you and gets hot, especially in the Summer.

The other thing to consider is how big it is to get it in the house. If you can get a bed that splits in two and joins together that might be good for transport and each person's comfort. Some of the coil spring mattresses can be very heavy.

I bought my bed from M6 in alsager, I think they charged £10 for fitting, well worth it, double bed so getting deep dish mattress on my own would have been difficult.

Also remove of old mattress.

I have this one which i really like

It's a Pretty firm mattress, but has a soft top pillow

For £4700 I hope that has dual subwoofers :D

 That gone up

I paid £1695 for the mattress + remote control lift ottoman base + headboard on an Ex-Display deal
(Normal price for it earlier this year was £3,400 and that with the much more expensive remote control Ottoman base)

Still really enjoying our iGel 4400 (exclusive to Benson's, but we saved over £3k buying from eBay).

I have a spinal injury and chronic health issues, prone to pressure sores, so getting the right mattress is really important. Superking zip-link was £1000 delivered.
