Can someone who has or in the past has owned both a PS5 and a PS5 Pro tell me if you actually tell much of a difference? My mouse is on the buy button for a PS5 Pro with a disc drive for £648 but I'm still unsure if it is actually worth that much money. My wallet would be much happier with the standard PS5 and disc drive for £379.
Add me as another who has zero regrets upgrading from a base PS5 to the Pro. More and more games are getting benefit from Pro specific patches and the extra storage space is an understated bonus. And performance is only going to get better early next year with the update to Sony's AI upscaling technology ( from their collaboration with AMD code name "Project Amethyst" )

To quote myself recently:
The Pro is worth it for certain games that are pushing it, and get a good patch. Alan Wake 2 as an example is far better looking on PS5 Pro than PS5 base, and more stable (and looked really damn good in PS5 Pro Quality mode, even as a high end PC owner, it looked equivalent to running it on high with some of the RT visuals intact, even if not up there with a top end PC or the best settings - the compromise being it was locked at 30, but crucially it was a stable LOCKED 30 FPS with reasonably tailored rather than stock blur etc)

Ultimately though its a machine for people who want that bit more, and are willing to pay for it. I got mine on a good deal and don't regret it, but wouldnt have paid full price.

*****

It is quieter than my OG PS5, more power efficient, substantially better performing on some games, and has 2tb storage out the box vs the 1tb/825 on the original machine.

For the right price its worth it if you want the best performance out of the consoles, especially for pro enhanced titles, and I now find I buy more PS5 games than Series X (although that has gamepass which is better than psn still), albeit it really should have come with the disc drive in the box!

Its all about price, what you want and if youre going to play Pro enhanced games to get the best out of it!

Hopefully Sony click a large proportion of people bought on sales, and thus the price/lack of inclusion of disc drive was not a great idea.

Very confused this evening. Started up GT7 and I've got the menu music and can move things about to the sound effects, but it's just a black screen on the TV. The dashboard and other games work perfectly...

Oh and it works fine on the portal. Just not my TV. LG 48 OLED, can't remember the model but the first one with 4K/120. Weird!

I got my wife a portal for christmas, just bought 3 months of plus to try the streaming and it's perfect so far.

She is currently playing Lego Horizon.

happy wife = brownie points ;)

OLED TV still hasn't got a delivery date but I'm very glad! The nephews appeared yesterday and one (the oldest 6yrs) some how managed to spill a glass of milk down the current TV. Honestly couldn't write it. He had only been in the house 5 minutes.

Ps5 pro setup with an additional 2TB drive and downloading games as we speak. Just wish my internet was better.
