As part of the new system LG has announced:

An H7 Soundbar
The W7 subwoofer
The M5 and M7 surround speakers

What makes this system really special is that its supports flex connect, these wireless speakers talk to eachother and allow you to setup all sorts of different atmos configurations and the system will calibrate to your room and setup.
These speakers can also all connect wirelessly to LG's new 2026 TVs and also its 2025 TVs via software update (meaning there is no cables between your TV and the speakers)

There 17 configs possible.

And 21 speakers to charge up  I know you could run a power cable to each speaker to keep them charged up and 21 batteries that'll need changing after 10 years so cost a lot :p

It doesn't support 21 speakers, it's channels which s completely different hence the 13.1.7.

The max configuration is actually 1 subwoofer, 1 soundbar and 4 speakers, however, it does mean you can have front left and front right speakers alongside the soundbar and rear speakers. Or you could use a LG TV and just have 4 speakers and a sub similar to the Sony bravia quad system.

Speakers aren't fully wireless Hornet, still need a power socket.

The battle of the front speakers basically this year. :D

"Samsung does mention that the Music Studio 7 can be used as surround speakers for Samsung soundbars and TVs that support Q-Symphony (which is most of them). This presumably will support Dolby Atmos – and Samsung says that you can have up to five speakers connected to a TV now (no soundbar needed, if you prefer).'

Quite beefy for once.

What they're not rechargable? So what's the point of that?

In fact power cables are even more tricky, as you need a mains socket per speaker.

Also the speakers in TV LG are lousy at least the ones in my C9 is, I wouldn't even recommend using them. I think some of the higher end LG OLED have soundbar so I guess if you could use that as well, that would be ok. Ensure how you''d get two soundbars to work together though. maybe have one at the back?

If you buy the soundbar then that has Dolby flex built in, so you can use it alongside any TV brand.

If you don't buy the soundbar and just wanted to use the speakers, then you would need to buy a 2026 LG TV with flex connect built into the TV. The TV then acts as the hub and you can chose to use it as an enhanced center channel alongside them or disable it and have a phantom center.

Yes, if you used the max configuration you would need 6 plug sockets.

 what a stupid pointless design. Also how long are the power cables? because for my use the rear left would need to be about 10' long. You know with a AVR setup you just use two plugs? . lol

Dunno, ones on my quads are 3m but not like they drawing massive power, so fine to run into an extension lead.

yeah great have an extension lead and wall wart in the middle of the floor not a trip hazard or bulky compared to speaker cable  They should bundle in a couple of these with kit IMO

Most people will have units at the front and sofas at the back so pretty simple to hide the cables.

Feels like quite a niche use case? Don’t people just buy a single system and be done with it.

Useful if you want to upgrade speakers , say if one in the LG has poor quality rears, can change to better ones from another brand, replace or add subwoofer, or in case of damage or a fault. Or you can borrow mates, or use rears from one system transfer to another room etc.

Say if I had two soundbar setups, the posh one downstairs with dedicated soundbar rears, but the upstairs one is stereo soundbar only just move them upstairs, pair them up away you go.

Or more importantly, you change the soundbar, but you can keep the sub and single speakers, so if the soundbar blows up, or you need to change it (to get new codecs ) don't have to throw away the whole lot

As I said, who is going to do that? It must be like 1% of the 1% of users.

The point is you can do that, it makes it more closer to a AVR/seperates system.

Why do you like to be told what you have, what you can do with your purchase, you can't re-use bits etc....sounds like a Apple fan lol. Why are you against a open soundbar wireless standard? That's one of the drawbacks of soundbars, no interchangeability. For example I could buy a blown up soundbar unit, but re-use the working rears, to add to my existing soundbar setup (say as an example)

Where did you get those figures from? Did you have a poll? :D

It's like comparing PC versus console...AVR is the PC, console is the soundbar. You can't do anything to the item
