Mister FPGA

I was really sold on it being UK based and the work they put into the parts and tolerances, but then I priced it up and it was a lot more than my Mister Pi and struggled to justify it.

Had it come with a nice case I might have bitten but in the YT previews it looked very cheap. I get that from a distance (and stuck in a TV unit) it would probably have been alright and the ports etc. are more important.

My Mister Pi has been fine, but the build quality isn't great which was a disappointment, I spoke to RR and they didn't seem bothered in the least.

I'll be skipping the SuperStation, not bothered about the optional CD drive and given I have Mister I can't see much reason to get one.

The Mister Pi is incredible value.

It is pretty much the same price as the QMTech, that needs a barrel DC power supply as opposed to USBC.

Having had both I'd say the QM is better built, it had a weird case made of PCB and a janky fan though.

But with my Mister Pi being warped I'm looking at spending £20+ on a new acrylic case.

Would have been cheaper for me to keep the QM and just replace the fan. But given it's the industrial version of the chip it can be run without a fan and just a heatsink with no issues anyway.

Set up Zaparoo (formerly TapTo) on my Mister with a USB NFC reader, it works great.

Have a stack of cards and some vinyl sticker paper, going to create some custom artwork for the cards as seen other folks do this and looks so cool.

The Zaparoo Android app is easy to use to connect to your Mister and write to the cards too.

I do want to get a 3d printed case for the reader so it looks like an old school floppy drive or something. That's phase 2 once I've got a few of my fav games on cards first. Not sure how my old inkjet printer will hold up, been considering replacing this for years so now might be a good time.

Has anyone received their SS1 yet? Think I am in the 2nd batch, but not sure, and the shipping dashboard is pretty woeful.

Mine was dispatched Christmas day, I recieved tracking on 19th. Still waiting but shipping seems to be progressing ok.

First batch fresh off the inkjet.

Cutting the corners is gonna be a pain. Been testing on some draft prints, I'm not great at arts and crafts.

Started looking at cutting machines and dedicated card printers... Stopped myself as that was gonna get very expensive.

Found on Amazon you can get corner cutters, work like a hole punch, pretty cheap so might have to pick one up.

Edit:
First card produced and it launching on the Mister. Love it.

Your images don't work for me :(

My Superstation One arrived yesterday. Really impressed, I finally have a MiSTer to use with my CRT - It has been great with original hardware but for the nostalgia I have really wanted to play some Mega Drive classics.

I need to test later tonight, but it has a dedicated GCon port for the composite cable (I am using DIN10 SVideo).

Has anyone tried the new Zaparoo UI with Game art etc yet?

What’s the build quality like, I’m hearing mixed reviews?

I’m still waiting on mine with the dock

Drop me a DM I’ll send you a case for free, got some left over

RMC/The Redtro Collective's latest video is on the new Handheld MiSTer Huber (makers of the Multisystem MiSTer's) are planning to make. They have started working on this and looking for community feedback.

Does include a fun project at the end.

Will be interesting to see the price point, I just don’t see how they can compete with the Analogue Pocket.

I don't think they can, in that they lack the mass-production capabilities. I think this will be more of a hobbyist type product in-line with what they have now. Although there are some conversations in the video with their new partners working on injection moulded plastics for this new handheld. I suppose one advantage is that this will be a portable MiSTer and therefore play all of the cores, versus the more limited Analogue Pocket.

I’m not really up to speed with what cores work on the MiSTer vs Analogue. For me at least, I wouldn’t be interested in playing PSX, N64, Saturn etc on a handheld anyway, just 8bit and 16bit titles, which I think the Analogue does pretty well, and the screen on the Analogue looks awesome.

I believe OpenFPGA runs up to forth-gen and you're right with the controls 8-bit/16-bit is where it's intended. You've also got the adaptors to play original cartridges too.
