Driving temp without road tax?

With ANPR cameras and police fitting with ANRP these days, i wouldnt

Also, the public have access to check tax on a vehnicle online, if your using it and they check and see its not taxed, they could easily report you/report the car.

But where is the fine going to go if they don't have the current address?

They sorted it now. Post office scanned the v5c/2 and 6 months paid for

As said seems a fault with the system that it can allow this to happen.

Regardless of it being the drivers issue, perhaps it shohld be made to be the sellers issue so that they definitely send something off or do it online and get a confirmation back to say the car has moved on to a new owner.

I always wonder why people only buy 6 months if they aren't planning to sell

That's even more reason to buy the 12 months as it's cheaper in the long run but evidently people don't see this
You're being too narrow minded.

The rich are wealthier partly because they can buy quality that in the long run is cheaper than someone buying soemthung 2/3 times. But the poor can't afford to spend for high quality in one go and in the end pay more for less.

The same with car tax. Anyone with money will just do yearly, anyone without will do monthly/6month, and so they pay more for less while having less money. She often has £ in her account until pay day. Her fault in many ways but that's irrelevant. She can't afford to pay for 12m and save money.

If you do not have £200 available for car tax a year then there is clearly something wrong with her financial sense. That has got nothing to do with being rich or poor.

My daughter is 18 and works a part time job on weekends but even she has £200 ready for her car tax in March and is putting away for her insurance renewal in June because like car tax it is hundreds of pounds cheaper to pay it annually.

Good for her but you daughter has you. She's already a 1000 times in a better situation. I also assume she was born here? How many kids does she raise without family support? I assume zero.

If so, not sure how you thought to compare your daughter's situation here and would say again you're being narrow minded here, as we all are guilty of in our own way as we live in our bubble and friends family etc that are within our bubble shape our view.

Isn't it still cheaper per month to buy 12 and get a refund?
Don't know off the top of my head, but I suspect they rely on getting the 6 month reminder as the flag to SORN rather than forgetting to go for the refund as that'sthe kind of thing they'd do.

I largely leave them to their own admin, it's their choice/problem rather than mine :D

There are undoubtedly cases where it'sdue to circumstance but a lot of people are just bad at managing their finances. I mean there are two examples in this thread!

Yeah makes sense. Save yourself £12 or just do 6 months and forget it not having to worry about cancelling
