NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - Technical/General Discussion

Power of internet hype trains and influencers needing those clicks. Not saying the cable is perfect, but i do suspect it has been overblown to the point many are convinced they need to spend money on wireview pro etc to feel safe using it.

I know a LOT of people with 4090's and 5090's in my gaming circles, Discord etc.... and not 1 has had an issue but when there is an issue with 1 card the entire technosphere is made aware.

I think it’s a bit the same with 9800x3d issue. Sure there might be a small issue, but just looking at the Asrock sub Reddit there 183 confirmed cases? Some on Asus? But what is that relative to total sales?

I’m using the same cable I used with my 4090 on my 5090 and apparently that means my house should burn down.
I think it was the revised cablemod one when I needed a 90° angled adapter, but then just got a vertical GPU mount instead

I've done something rather stupid and bought an Asus RTX 5080 Noctua OC Edition, just hope it squeezes in my case! I deliberated over getting a 5090 for a while but I think that ship has sailed now with my prices increases, it's not a cheap card @ £1499 but it's only £300 over the Asus Prime 5080 that I was going to get and the Noctua cards seem to hold their value well so hoping to sell off when a 6080 version comes out in the future.

honestly at this price, I would return it and buy the rtx 5090 founders edition from NVidia's website, you can get it for £300+ more. You can get one of those stock checker website to give you alert when its in stock. You get something MUCH FASTER for just a little more. If your 5080 was a £1000 model then you can make a point for not worth the upgrade in price/performance.

I agree that would be the better option but prices are creeping up now slowly and I just don't have a lot of confidence on snagging an FE and/or when they might even arrive which could be months away?, and outside of the FE 5090 prices have gone mental.

Agree with this, the 5080 even if it’s a Noctua card will def not hold its value as well as an FE, you will lose more money than stumping up a further 300 quid

Tried to grab one and impossible, this has kind of proven my point regarding the FE, they are basically hens teeth, plans have changed now anyway, I had a bit of luck if you can call it that(?) I cancelled the RTX580 Noctua Edition, tried to grab an FE and failed, then got moody and said sod it I'm getting a 5090 damn the cost , went to overclockers and for some odd reason a Zotac RTX 5090 that I had in my basket for a few weeks had kept it's price @ £2399 when I originally put it in there, todays price is £2700! and it's just been dispatched! so a fair bit more than an FE but I guess in todays market not to bad, I kind of saw it as a sign as my last chance to grab one before the prices continue to rise.
