How much do you pay for your gas boiler service?

Hi guys. I paid my gas engineer £75 in 2023 and £80 in 2024 and again in 2025. He just messaged me that my Vaillant boiler service time is coming up. I asked him if it's still £80 and he says it's gone up to £95 and that Vaillant are charging £202 but he'll do it for £85. He's a good engineer but am I paying a bit too much or about right?

Mine is around £75-80, used to be £60 when I started using him about 8 years ago.

Considering how the cost of everything has skyrocketed in that time, it's to be a expected that tradesmen are going to put their prices up. I'd rather pay a bit more to someone you know is doing the job correctly.

In London I expect that is cheap.

British gas charged me £99 in November with apparently a "member" discount.

Thanks guys. That's all I needed to know and so I'm happy to continue with him. You're right, he does the job correctly so might as well stick with him.

Same as me but you don't live in London? Interesting. Maybe I have a better price than I thought.

IMO, its a boiler service is no different from getting a plumber out even for a quick job - there is a call out charge which is normally about 1 hour labour.... £85 seems about right.

as above, its crept up from £65 a few years ago to around £85 this year but considering other things I'm not too fussed with the smaller increase
