How much is your water bill?

CCW has indicative bill increase amounts for the current 5 year investment plan

So no plans to cut the cost

Always up never down

£56 month, currently waiting to get a meter fitted.
I wouldn't bother currently classed as "Low" Usage ("Medium" usage would be almost double) previous six monthly bill £158, bill received this morning £231!!!

Water supply - Southern
25m3 used
Usage charge £68.51
Standing charge £22.74

Waste water - South East
23.13m3 calculated
Usage charge £87.76
Standing charge £52.40

Christ knows what "High" usage users are paying.

Lots of people on the local FB group saying they've had letters/emails from ST informing them their bills are going up. From £30-£70 a month in some cases. Not had anything myself yet but...
Absolute disgrace.

Enjoy...
Water bills will rise by an average of 5.4% or £33 a year in England and Wales from April, the water industry body has confirmed.

The rise is two percentage points above December's official inflation figure.

Prices vary across the country depending on a number of factors, however, so billpayers in some areas will see even bigger increases.

The biggest percentage increase is for Affinity Water customers in the Midlands, with bills rising by more than double the average at 13% or £31.

In cash terms, United Utilities customers will be worst off, with annual bills rising by £57 (9%) to an average of £660.

At the other end of the scale, Thames Water customers will pay just £3 (0.4%) more.

See much water company is hiking bills...

You've gotta laugh at this point. This country is so stuffed you can't even have a proper whinge about something because before you're even finished, something else pops up to stiff you even more, and our gov seem to be completely and comprehensively out of their depth and incapable of addressing anything.

Hopeless, absolutely hopeless.

Still, at least we're with Thames Water so we're getting the better end of this year's stiffing.

We are served by South East Water who have probably just had to fork out about £50m+ in compensation to people for their **** ups with the water supply for weeks on end lately.

Its OK though, they've raised our bills again and will keep doing so. The money they paid in compensation will be clawed back regardless. You can't fine a company with a monopoly on an essential service without it just coming back to the customer immediately.

Had a new meter fitted by Affinity (they did everyone's in the area) back in July/ August. For the last 4 years or so my bill has consistently been approximately £40-£50/m based on very consistent usage of about 90-96K litres. Now this new meter is installed my Bill has gone from £50 to £98 and apparently my usage is 128K litres... Part of this 100% increase is due to the unit rate charge going up by 20% in a year and the fixed rate has also gone up massively but there is no explanation as to my usage magically going up by 30-40% without anything changing in my house. Same thing has happened to loads of my neighbours.

I am glad Scottish Water is not privatised. We use more per head and it is all in the Council tax. England is the only country in the developed world with fully privatised water companies.

maybe they knew that you guys in the area were using more than rated that's why they installed meters in the area?

either that or you have a leak

similar to me. we had a very old water meter which was replaced by a smart one. I thought something was wrong with it... However....

apparently the old water meters after a while would significantly under report your use.

suffice to say I wish I had my old meter back!

Makes sense. Some people are paying crazy low amounts for their water and I can only assume they are simply using junk meters.

Same with southern water here. It’s already the highest bills on average and they’re increasing them again after nearly 50% raise a year ago. Can I switch? Nope. Can I do anything at all about it? Nope. Just suck up and pay more.

I don't understand how waterbills can rival energy bills - is it getting more expensive to make it fall out of the sky?

It's getting more expensive to treat it (mostly the wastewater) to tighter and tighter standards, that require more expensive equipment, more chemicals and more energy

If they saw what I just did to my toilet they'd probably quadruple my bill.
