2026 Season Preview

Apologies for the planetf1 link, as they are basically just The Sun, of the F1 world...
Still, the downshifting on the straights and already preparing us for extreme lift-and-coast, is not really what you want for a season.
Should give Ferrari a leg-up at least, they are the unprecedented masters of lift-and-coast after 2025.

New Williams livery is out. I would upload but it's a faff these days and Imgurs one-click upload extension is now dead :(

Anyway, it looks largely the same as usual with a bit more light blue/white. What is interesting to me is the complete lack of any undercut on the sidepods, as per pretty much every car in the last 5 years. I'm guessing it's just the basic model they used in the render.

https://imgbox.com/ is UK friendly.

The new livery is shown in the BBC article - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/articles/c9qpzx5y3njo

I like the look of it so far.

I believe Williams have already admitted its just a generic render and nothing what the actual car will look like, with some journalists stating its even missing suspension components.

I like the look of it, I just hope they arent struggling as much as some people say and they hit the ground running in Bahrain.

At least they have a Mercedes engine, which is already seemingly proving valuable.

The more I hear about these cars the more gash I think the racing is going to be. Don’t get me wrong, it’ll be fun for the first season because everything is turned on its head — but beyond that it’s going to be push to pass motorway drive bys. I think the PlayStation-esque racing will hamper any chance of old man Alonso taking advantage of a good car. Lewis is my generation and has always gamed so he might do ok.

I will never write-off Alonso. This will be his year. I was mistaken when I said last year (and the one before that) would be his year, I meant this one.

If who games is the metric now then we might as well just hand the trophy to Lando or Max
Kimi will be playing Fortnite down the straights.

Many articles have mentioned how important the software/automation is going to be for these engines. I'm sure the drivers will need to press some buttons and understand how the engine works, but 95% is going to be automated (hopefully Ferrari didn't write their code in Italian).

Christ Ferrari's code will be a laugh, will take ages to go through all the options!

There's already worries, Ocon has said to the press that the cars feel more difficult to follow than the previous gen.

That mixed with the insane harvesting/lift and coast that drivers may have to do. Overtakes will be easier than DRS.

But hey, would look good on Drive to Survive right?
