Oh nice, thanks, I hadn't even seen the Instant! Looks like I could drop the Switch Ultra too in that case.

Sounds good man, iirc the Instant PoE budget is 40W. I don't think you can run AP's off it though as it's Protect only, so you probably want the Ultra anyway. I have an Ultra (60W) and the budget is plenty big enough for what I have.

Might not be the end of the world, I'm hoping I can get away with just the DR7 for WiFi coverage.

Ordered and received a G4 Instant from the UK store and they've sent me an EU version. Unfortunately where it's going there isn't really the space to use a travel adapter so waiting to see what they say.

Unless I've missed something, it seems like there's no alert when a POE camera is unplugged which seems like a bit of a security gap.

Bought a USW Pro XG 10 PoE to go in my Office, it powers a Mikrotik 100 GbE switch for my homelab, a pair of USW Flex 2.5G's, and soon to be a doorbell. It replaces a USW Aggregation, a USW-Flex-XG, and a USW Enterprise 8 PoE. The latter has been relocated to my garage replacing a very old but trusty US 8 60W which is right at the top of PoE usage with the cameras/lights attached to it. The idea was to move my UNAS2 to my garage but the bloody USW Enterprise 8 PoE is only PoE+ and the UNAS2 requires PoE++!

Seems like wifi 7 is not delivering what's being marketed.
Not entirely sure you are targeting the right people in this thread with that, no one really cares about wifi versions. Probably create a dedicated thread for those who are buying a one box network solution.

Is anyone running a US-8-60W switch with a U6+ AP?

I currently have a couple of US-8-60W powering 2 x AC-Lites, an AC-Pro and an AC-LR. I was considering upgrading the AC-Lites to U6+ APs but I'm not 100% certain the switches support them for PoE? AI reckoned it did but then there seemed to be conflicting info on the Unifi forums.

Completed the G6 Pro Turret (UVC-G6-Pro-Turret-W) install today using a Camera Arm Mount (UACC-Camera-AM-W), and it looks so much cleaner than the AI Pro bullet it replaced in terms of the overall install. I am starting to prefer the Turret over Bullet installs now.

The few things I have noticed compared to the AI Pro Bullet is there is a lot more contrast and detail, and while it's not a lot long got dark here, the difference in the night footage is huge! I'll let it run for a few more days before forming an overall conclusion.

Had a quick look at the specs, I dont see why it wouldn't work. I'd be tempted to do it myself actually. What is the reason given for why it doesn't work?

I think it was the max power draw of the U6+ was outside the spec of the PoE standard supplied by the switch. But others have said that in reality, it only ever draws 8w tops.

I didn't quite realise there isn't enough space within the housing to fit the poe pigtail/ethernet cable on a G5 Turret, but I was committed to getting it up and working before the rain hit yesterday so I used a slightly-too-large junction box (which has since had a gland added).

Will be looking for a new base and or arm to put it on instead.

Similar story for the doorbell, I need to feed the cable from side/above, so have a friend printing a spacer for me.

Hi all, after some advice on a setup. I'm looking at getting away from Eero wifi, and looking at the Ubiquiti gear.

I live in a 2up 2 down, eventually wanting a doorbell using poe and 2 or 3 camera's. I have fibre internet, and have 2 Eero max (wifi7) one inside the house and one in a man cave bottom of garden.
Both Eero's are wired via an outdoor ethernet cable.

So I'm looking at going down the route of the Ubiquiti gear, I've looked more for ease (not too complicated hopefully) more than anything to go with the following.

Unifi Cloud Gateway Max, Unifi Switch Lite 16 port poe and 2 or 3 Unifi U7 access points. This is just as a start to then have the ability to add poe camera's doorbell etc at a later date. Obviously the gateway max for the recording/storage of the camera's/doorbell.

Would that work well as a replacement of the Eero's, also wanting to get away from Google doorbell and camera's I have now. Advice appreciated thanks.

I just drill the hole through the wall big enough 20mm for the cable and sleeve the hole with 20mm conduit the Unifi pigtails for through perfectly then.

I bought a dozen U6 Pros for a new build office i'm involved with, are many people moving to the U7 equipment yet? Ive seen items mentioning the lack of big improvements/full implementation of the WiFi 7 spec yet?
That said, I've just bought a u7 pro wall to replace my ageing AC LR at home, delivery today.

I replaced the UAP-AC-LR's at home with U7's. I wouldn't rush to replace U6's with U7's I don't think.

No. Id only take the newer design ones as well, but only in addition or to replace a faulty one. It's still early days for WiFi 7 and 6ghz.
