*** The Official Nintendo Switch 2 ***

So many good games on Switch 2, mainly playing DK Bonanza, Mario Kart World (Our kids fav), Mario Party Jamboree and Little Nightmare 3 (It was cheap). Really impressed with how the games look and run, and game play is so much fun. Got even more games on the shelf still waiting to be played. I think overall Switch 2 could be my fav console of all time, yes I'm old, perhaps to old to be enjoying Nintendo games?! Sure but so what. Switch 2 is great, somehow it gives nostalgia to the SNES days. Love this thing, everyone should get one lol.

I assume if you've got Switch 2 Online membership, you've given the SNES Switch Online stuff a try too, to hark back to that. I hadn't looked at the retro stuff in a while, I took a look a little earlier and was surprised by how much it has actually grown since I last looked.

Yeah, I picked up a year online membership, some good old games on there. It's the nostalgia factor with Nintendo for me, I remember the SNES days as a kid, and something about Switch 2 feels like that, a really good balance of performance, graphics and actually fun games to play.

I picked up a Switch 2 last week, I never got one on release as I couldn't really see the point but I had the urge to play Mario Kart so gave in and got one.

My first thoughts are the screen is OK but not as vibrant as the OLED model but it is clear and bigger so a little trade off I guess.

I'm a little suprised at the Battery Life though, I was playing the Dragon Quest demo last night and after 1.5 hrs there was only 10% battery left which is pretty poor. I never used my OLED version much but I'm sure it latest a lot longer than that.

I wish games on store stated what fps they ran at, I don't get many 3rd party but I'd like to not have to google everything to find out. I mean games that don't get physical releases.

Can't see they'd ever bother with this given that 99% of Switch players almost certainly couldn't care less :p

Virtual Boy stand turned up today. I don't think I'm going to get time to play with this one in the next few days, although I'm not sure if the Virtual Boy VC is even up and running yet. Lovely packaging and free Nintendo magazine which is new, or at least is for me as I don't order from them super often (last time was the Switch 2).

Anyone picked up Mario Tennis Fever? Everywhere I've looked seems to suggest it is not worth full price. Even in the previous game, I tended to not actually play the the special features of the game and just play good old fashioned tennis game. I'd mostly do the same again on this one.

I got it in the post on Friday but haven't really sat down to play it properly. Seemed OK for the brief time I did play it.

Yeah it's better than I expected overall. Fever rackets work really well, adding an extra layer to singles without making things too crazy, and giving doubles that fun mario kart factor - an element of frantic unpredictable moments.

The online is really good, you get into matches super fast (for now) and being first to 7 points feels just right. There are online rooms, and separate ranked modes for singles, doubles, and Fever and non-Fever(classic simple mode) tennis - I've been addicted to playing back-to-back matches it's great.

The adventure mode is OK but feels more like a fancy tutorial. You only need to play the first 2 hours of it (graduate the academy) to get the unlocks it offers which are a handful of fever rackets, and it's only 3-4 hours total I think. There's a good assortment of other single player modes which are actually decent and they offer some good challenge too - a few characters are tricky to unlock but you unlock a lot of stuff just playing matches. You unlock a '100 Challenges' mode when you overcome the final tower challenge too, a good amount of content overall.

If you only want to play simple mode tennis without fever rackets, then you might be a bit disappointed becuase Fever is not very different to Aces in that regard - I think you need to be a bit more accurate with your positioning but it's been a while since I played Aces. Fever has the option for different ball speeds which makes it more accessible too, but I'd recommend setting that to Fast in options from the beginning if you have experience with these kinda games already.
EDIT: The more I've played the more I notice the improvements they've made to the base tennis mechanics in this, it controls a bit better overall and I'm strategising and setting up for winners more than I remember in Aces.

As primarily a single player experience it's hard to recommend at full price, but if you like to play a lot of multiplayer/online too in these kinda games and are a bit competitive then I'd say it's worth it.

Apologies for asking a question that's probably been asked umpteen times before but what's the general go-to carry case and screen protector?

Was going to pick one up later this year but decided to bite the bullet and get one now before the inevitable price hike and shortages!

Got a chance to sit down with this tonight. I newer owned the Virtual Boy so can't draw upon comparisons with the original and therefore I don't have the nostalgia, but I bet this brings owning one all back.

Only used it with the Switch 2. There is a second base plate included for the Switch 1, but there are 4 screws so it's not quick operation to switch between them. The effect of the 3D seems to work well. My hunch is that its pretty accurate. On the VB Classics software for the Switch you can adjust IPD level (-20/+20) and change the size of the screen from 1:1 either by increasing, or decreasing. Had the most fun playing Wario Land and it is great to see the switching 3D effect on the early levels. Although I quite enjoyed Golf - abeit the menu driven controls are of the time.

Obviously Nintendo is holding nine games back for now, which is a little annoying and you can't emulate the games without a set of 'goggles'. But this stand is probably one, if not the best accessory Nintendo has done for the Nintendo Classics on Switch consoles. Also makes a nice display piece if you're into Nintendo stuff. Very cool.

I bought the Savage Raven by Skull & Co. after researching this myself. Very happy with the case. For screen protector I got JSAUX 3-Pack Screen Protector, very easy to fit.

I've had Mario Tennis 2 days and it's looking like a trade in. The single players adventure mode is one long tutorial and is boring tbh. It's a shame as I love a good tennis game
