Graphics card to pair with Ryzen 7 5700X3D

Recently managed to get a deal on a Ryzen 7 5700X3D with B550 motherboard and 32GB memory.

I'd be grateful for suggestions for a graphics card to pair with this.

I was leaning towards an Intel Arc B580 but read about the overhead issue with older processors.

Ideally I'd like to run at 1440p.

Thanks in advance.

If you didn't see, HUB retested it, earlier this year. Not all games are good, but it is much improved. These cards aren't close to the good buy they were awhile ago though, price has gone up a lot (referring to OCUK pricing).

Nothing wrong with the B580.

Prices on all cards have increased. The cheapest 16 GB RX 3060 XT on OCUK is £380; the cheapest 12 GB B580 is £280. £100 is still a heck of a saving, and at that end of the market you're looking for a card that is good enough.

Ideally I'd like to run at 1440p.

Ironically the CPU overhead issue mainly arose at 1080p

What sort of budget do you have, and do you have members market access for the forum?

I'm assuming around £250-300 if you're looking at the Arc B580? If so, you could probably pick up a second hand 4070(S) or 7800XT etc second hand.

Shame the 9060XT 16gb models have shot up so much in price tbh.

Thanks for responses.

Budget is £300 maximum.

Didn't know that the overhead issue with the B580 had been improved with recent drivers, and with a 5700X3D CPU it seems I should be OK so I guess it's still top of my list.

Yeah, that's true, but my thoughts are that currently you can get a 9060XT 8GB for that price and while it loses 4GB of VRAM, it is some ~30% faster and has less overhead.

Only as long as you remain with in the 8 GB VRAM limit. That depends upon the games you play and the VRAM they use. There are various videos by Hardware Unboxed, Daniel Owen, and others demonstrating this.

agree with @Tetras i would still opt for a 9060xt 8gb over the b580 12gb if just gaming at 1080p

it's the same argument i would apply to getting a 5070 12gb over the 5060ti 16gb - that the performance differential cannot be bridged by vram alone...
...the performance differential on the 9060xt 8gb is far too large to ignore, and even when vram limited, the performance drops down to b580 level, so basically there's nothing to lose and everything to gain by opting for the 9060xt 8gb

(in the video below at 11:15 - CP2077 at ultra settings - the 9060xt is still about par with the b580 though you get the frame drops)

if i had to choose betwen the two, i would get the 9060xt 8gb as it's faster than the b580 in general, the nuance being...as long as running at 1080p resolution and not at ultra quality settings for newer games (basically as long as you don't breech the vram limit by too much)

edit: though if i really had to choose, for 1440p gaming i would absolutely be heading straight for a used 4070 instead and skip getting a shiny new whatever

I hate to recommend an 8gb card; unfortunately and frankly there comes a point within the current market where turning down some settings is better than having **** performance regardless.

It does depend on game, but an 8gb 9060XT might be better than a 12gb Intel more often than not.

I bought a 7800XT 16GB for a friend recently for £280 kinda regretting not keeping it myself. Have a 4080 but so much cheaper.

Look at Tier F below

Decided to take the plunge and went with an Arc B580 while Overclockers have them on offer.

Not the greatest card out there I know, but it's a good bang for the buck and will hopefully be a good pairing with my 5700X3D.

B580 should see you well, meant to be capable little cards

If you can find one on a deal in the future I have the 9070xt paired up with mine and it seems to be a great match. I had the 7800xt before and again it worked brilliantly as a partner to the 5700x3d and can be had with for a good whack less than the 9070.

I am running at 3440x1440 ultrawide
