Aquiss

Great news, are there plans to do similar up in Edinburgh? That would probably cover everything other than the south west where there's not really much going on in terms of IXP anyway.

Yup, being explored and costed.

Thinking out loud, an IXP in Bristol would probably be sensible so traffic between Wales and Exeter can have the journey cut from 300 miles to 100. Unlikely to ever have enough demand to be viable.

So my understanding is my packets of data currently travel via cityfibre between my flat and London where they get handed over to Aquiss where they can breakout onto to the internet.

With the Manchester handover, they'll travel between my flat and Manchester on the cityfibre network, where they will be handed over to Aquiss's network. From there they can breakout onto the internet in Manchester or continue to London using Aquiss's network.

And possibly in the future there will be an Edinburgh so I can get a 1ms ping to cloudflare again.

Correct. Still some work to do with live circuits, but we will be steering them over bit by bit.

The pain of reading the above CF Manchester stuff and still not having CF in my area of Manchester and having to pay the same for 1G :D

Anyone had a rise in latency gaming recently?
Apart from sim racing which none of the games monitor my latency, my guilty pleasure is to play a bit of old skool CSS every now and then, the servers I play on have always shown sub 10ms latency down to as low as 4ms - this was also the case when I joined Aquis, but now they seem to be in the 15 -25ms range. Wandering what's changed if anything? just seems strange.

149.202.65.178 is the server
Aquiss is my 2nd ISP since being on Cityfibe network.

i got the 2.5gb package

My pings to that ip address is 21ms

not sure why but noticed some other pings are higher than my previous isp.

my ping to bbc is 19ms .. previous was 8ms

a few other sites.. I did a before and after test.

Well, it depends from where doesn't it. @Madzon might be in London Docklands, or in the Shetland Islands... It all depends on the routing and your distance. On a different ISP now I get 1ms to BBC, but previously I've seen everything from 8ms through 16ms. The quoted game server is 9-10ms for me. If you're close to the BNG and well routed/peered you'll get lower pings than if you're 200 miles away from the BNG (or the destination server) and the routing is via Hong Kong.

Can you please raise a ticket into our support desk, along with a Pathping or WinMTR result, so the team can investigate.
