Meta news & General VR News

Watched this last night, looks very interesting. From the limited testing he did it was much smoother, which would help with motion sickness and playability/enjoyment of the game.
Ive implemented this in my Quest 3 app earlier today, did v brief testing, deffo no worse which is good, it could be placebo but it did seem very slightly smoother, hard to say, need a longer test which i will do tonight or tomorrow.

Watching.certain adult VR content with an opened tin of tuna taped to the underside of the headset gives a similar experience....... So I've been told.

Watched a bit, pretty funny, some valid points, he deffo made some gaffes (zuck did). Still increased the vr userbase by a factor of 10 or more and gave us some excellent affordable headsets.
yes he increased the user base but he wants a monopoly, Zuckerberg is a classic narcissist he does not have consumers or the industry health in mind he employed a CTO for the purpose of ownership over people and data

Isn't the aim of most business to be the biggest out there, ideally close to or actually being, a monopoly? I mean that's how you get profits?

Can you suggest a VR manufacturer out there that's not trying to monopolise at least their niche of VR? That's just what business is.

They've driven VR forward by decades compared to what it would have been without them.

valve :p

admittedly they need to release it first

No... because the steam frame, steam machine, steam deck, steamOS, through SteamVR, selling software on the platform with a 75% share of the market isn't trying to monopolise anything

Facebook/Meta never wanted VR as a gaming platform. They wanted it as the next mobile phone type platform.
Hence they are now pivoting to smart glasses, and the gaming side is being neglected.

Steam has no intentions of being anything other than a gaming platform.
