Crimson Desert - Not an MMORPG…anymore

Definitely a lot of highly regarded people about.
Dont know about that, I think most people are (rightly) skeptical of most reviewers, but generally speaking I usually only see people on this forum speaking well of ACG, though maybe I'm wrong and in fact you all think he is a useless know-nothing :D

lol i will try it tomorrow night after i am back to playing football.

I remember people slating Last of us part 2 but for some reason, it was my fav game of that year when it first came out.

That was down to 'agenduz' and 'poitics' from the usual suspects.

Hatchet job? I thought they just called out the use of AI assets?
No they said the game was crap.

And tbh, loads here all got massively excvited and hyped dthat game to bit to the point i fell for the hype, bought it and thought it was meh and i only play it when my real life friends text me asking me to jump on....

Seems to me I got it right a few weeks ago. This is a wait a year or so and get it for a fiver kind of game :D
Possibly, I mean he says its very good but buggy, so I guess it will depend upon how quickly those bugs are fixed, which could be anything from a few days or weeks, to a few years :D

Or to put it another way, will it be a Starfield, which remained crap or a No Mans Sky or Cyberpunk, which turned it round and are now considered very good games

Man i almost turned off this review
when he said quests that shouldd take 1min to complete, take 15mins.. Wow now come on mate.....

o hey theres not fast travel to every single place likle every game...

o hey there is a bit of grindd to build your settlement...

o wow there is too many quests

too big of a game

TLDW: Crimson Desert is a generational game. A game that fundamentally changes our perception of what is possible in the medium. Its open-world, exploration, and sheer scale all offer something that almost no other game has even attempted. It's NOT perfect: there are bugs, occasional quality dips, and its scope can sometimes leave ideas on the table for too long, but overall I'm thoroughly impressed.

After 60+ hours I'm loving it. I think it will probably take me 120+ to roll credits and likely 300+ for a completionist run; even so, I cannot wait to see what else the game has tucked away for me to find and I'm actively playing it even while writing this pinned comment. It won't be for everyone, and I expect the game-journalist memes will flow considering its lack of hand-holding, but it's definitely for me.

Most of those you list are frankly daft, but this one, this one "can" be valid, Assassins Creed Valhalla comes to mind as one title which was simply too big of a game. Will need to wait and see if that applies to Crimson Desert but it could be a valid flaw (equally it could just be another item by one of those really weird "gamers" who always seem to want games to fail for some reason, time will tell)

Starfield you say? Going to install that with the new update and dlc once DLSS5 is out :D

Would take more than some AI faces to make me ever reinstall Starfield, maybe I would reinstall it if they completely rebuilt the entire game :D

I never played the first dlc. So will play both dlc's and also the new feature it has.

I won't be starting a new playthrough as the main campaign story was weak. I enjoyed the side content A LOT more.

All bathesda had to do was make fallout version of no mans sky...

78 now - creeping up toward the "8/10" mark, which would be the score I was expecting, so looks like it might be about as good as I expected it to be. Looks like Mewgenics is still safe as my GOTY leader but will know more as some Crimson Desert opinions come in from the highly regarded folk I pay attention to on here (you know who you are) ;)

They messed up main story and the greed of new story+ to keep people playing.

Still i had a lot of fun. Steam clock has around 80 hours on it.

I wanted to see fallout 3 in space. Would have been fun exploring finding books or whatever equivalent to enhance your stats etc.

Johnny?

I often wonder why people take some sense of glee when a game is not as good as other people hoped.

I was neither here nor there on this one due to MMO origins, but had hoped it would be decent as I tend to love open world exploration games. Still might give this one a bash at some point when the price is more sensible.

I’m one of those gamers that tend to have very different tastes to what the mainstream likes. Hated CP2077, KCD2, Expidition 33 and thought Elden Ring was average. But really enjoyed starfield and stalker 2.
