Afternoon all; I'm looking for a new build - my current one is slowing dying, so it's time for a new one!

I need everything, other than monitors, keyboard, mice; So Mobo, CPU, RAM, GPU, HDD's (can reuse some of the existing ones), Case, AIO; with a budget of around 4-5k;

Show me your best builds! :)

Gaming;

I currently have a 3900 AMD AM4 CPU; x570 Aorus Elite;
32gb DDR
3080 GPU;

And it's showing it's age; I know for a minimum I need a new motherboard, RAM and CPU; but unsure what's the best combo;

Looking at 9800X3D potentially; with some DDR5 memory - but I'm a bit behind the times! :)

Ahh, yeah, you could keep the graphics card and should still notice a mild to decent uplift (depending on the games/resolution), but budget is more than big enough either way.

Here's a 9800X3D build that I did for another thread:

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £2,626.79 (includes delivery: £11.98)

I wouldn't get a 5090 myself, but you could.

Zotac only chosen for the warranty length if registered within 30 days.

The fans on the GPU are dying - screeching loudly; and I don't really want to take apart the entire structure to fit new fans; I used to be that type of person, but I'm not longer the guy who can do all of that - I'm far too old these days :p

SSD wise; 1tb mp600;
SSD 970 EVO Plus 2TB;

Current specs aren't horrendous, but they are definately slowing down; likely due to the CPU / RAM bottleneck - which are the most expensive (GPU aside) to replace! :)

The budget is for a full replacement - but could be used within the existing stuff; E.g. keep GPU (even though its definately dying with the fans), keep the HDD's, keep the case. Can't remember the power supply; but it was a good one - so could be reused; modular I believe.

thank you;

Hoping for a few people to stick options in so I cna then mix and match to create something;

moving house, so spending a chunk on it, on me :D

The Chinese in me thinks that if it's only the GPU fan giving up the ghost, then paying £4k for an upgrade isn't really the best use of money.

If it's "just" for gaming, a 5500x3d (drop in upgrade after a bios update) and a 9070xt would give you a significant uplift at literally a fraction of the cost.

Of course if that £4k is burning a hole in your wallet and trousers, we'd only be too happy to spend it for you :P

Fair enough! :D

If you did really want to blow it all, then easily done with a 5090:

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £4,965.90 (includes delivery: £0.00)

Poor value though, since 5090 is only +50% a 5080, but +200% the money :o

i own the aio, and i've used this ram in a friend's build, can recommend them too :cry:

I'd have mentioned the AiO but I sprung the extra tenner for the Warframe and its sexy screen. :p

I'm guessing beyond that they're close to identical but Thermalright pop out so many revisions it's hard to tell.

Can you tell I'm itching to put a new white build together?

It does look very pretty with the mix, and I am one of those filthy Geordies!

I think I'm just overdue a full rebuild and can't mentally justify it with what I have, I suspect when the upcoming 12C X3D on a single CCD launches I'll have to lock myself in the basement for a tad. My rig is genuinely more than enough for my needs in general, I just enjoy the hobby of building/faffing about with new kit and it's increasingly difficult to justify that indulgence on a casual level.
