Will you be pre ordering one?

I mean, a quest 3 does everything you've just mentioned? There's some cracking deals second hand on the 3S around too. Might be worth grabbing one and seeing if you do actually use it regularly, for maybe close to 15% of the price...
Thanks for the tip, I'm a bit out of the loop on this stuff! I'll have a look.

The reduced weight sounds good, IF you can buy it without the strap with the battery embedded.
Maybe the pixels will have some secret sauce built in to make them outperform there specifications. Otherwise, it’s a big fat no from me

Really the main thing is much lower latency and higher quality PC streaming, plus foveated rendering will become more of an option on PCVR games giving a performance boost. Maybe even eye-tracked UIs become more common.
Right now eye-tracking is a bit niche on PCVR, restricted mostly to higher end, expensive headsets. PSVR2 has eye tracking but that only got enabled recently on PC.

Good points and well made.
I would think, general availability off the shelf, and not restricted due to supply or initial demand, that those possible advantages could well be better understood once it has got into the hands of trusted reviewers and users.
I would more likely be tempted, if at all, after the summer period.

If money isn't too tight, a quest 3 (not S) gets you better lenses. But a bit more expense. I suggest the Q3S because if you get a bargain, it's generally easy to resell at no loss (there might be one available in members market too).

Voted no. A Quest 3 in black for twice the price, why would you?

I think Valve have really missed the boat with their recent/ imminent hardware releases. Steam Deck was great and great value, but the Steam Machine and Frame are both way under spec'd and way over priced. You can blame Ramageddon to a point, but it is what it is.

Indeed, the cheapest offered even having no controller.
At half the cost, considering the relatively low /poor spec of it, you would only have a concern about longevity.
It isn't as though Steam do not get a cut from their gaming platform, of games bought.
Here we are though dealing with ever increasing hardware prices.

Goodness knows what the Frame will cost...

Mainly because of the PC link wireless dongle which should in theory provide a much higher quality, more consistent and stable streaming experience than using a Quest 3 streaming over your router's WiFi. With it being Valve's own hardware it should become developer's standard goto device for SteamVR content so support and reliability should be solid. Also, it's not made by Facebook/Meta for which some will be reason enough to buy it over their headset even if it does cost twice as much.

Personally Im considering pre-ordering but it'll depend on pricing and initial reviews/feedback.

One thing that's not often mentioned is the Frame has two separate wifi systems. One for general communication, downloads, etc., and the other dedicated for VR streaming.

A downside not often mentioned are the controller haptics, which as said to be quite crude and noisy. Definitely won't be a patch on the Quest Pro controllers which have amazing haptics... that no-one uses the advanced features of.

There are dedicated routers/dongles out there for VR. Meta released one themselves, and then Puppis produced something better from what I can tell.

Or you can just buy a dedicated router for it.

Personally, I prefer the idea of a dedicated router connected by LAN, than USB, since it's easier to place in your play space, which can very easily not be where your PC is.

Absolutely I can play wherever I want just take my router to a different room plug the power line into a socket, router connects as a switch/extender thing to the house network the 5ghz wifi is passworded only for my quest pro and I'm in the oasis :D

That's handy to know as I hadn't heard of the Puppis device until you mentioned it!
