Motorsport Off Topic Thread

An interesting article, and clear confirmation of what I think everyone knew that RB is completely built around Max. He doesn't mention the reason for his seeming inability to get out of Q1 in his last year. I can't believe Horner and the team allowed such an imbalance in the resources and upgrades to the cars that would cause such a massive disparity.
And this is a surprise to anyone, I think if you look back in history other number 1 drivers also, in the majority, had the team built around them.
Look at the Schumacher years, he even had special tyres his team mate couldn't have.

This line is hilarious:

Horner bluntly informed him when he joined the team that they only ran a second car “because they have to”.

I love the idea that Horner and Red Bull are fuming that they have to have a second car and driver.

:D

Interesting stuff coming from Sergio Perez in recent interviews. Seems like what we all thought to be true at RB, was even more true than the Max brigade would care to admit;

Sergio Perez reveals Christian Horner’s blunt Red Bull warning: ‘Everything is for Max’

Checo was lucky to get a drive. His win the prior year, largely also due to luck, probably helped a lot with the RB signing (that and the millions from Papa Checo).

He had the same car as Max so why didn't he just drive faster and become the new number 1? Obviously the team favours the clear number 1 driver, especially for long-term success.

Don't you mean Carlos Slim who had, via Telmex, sponsored Checo from his carting days.

I bet the RB staff loved to hear **** like that when they are pouring everything into getting the best results possible and go for the bonuses for winning constructors etc.

Love the track, and extremely happy to hear of its return. Not sure about the 2026 engines around it though. Some straights, which as we know don’t work at all in this format…

Those cars are going to die on the back-to-back straights.

I do like this track though.
