Damn you Octpus, just give us free charging like you did last year. I know it’s not their fault, trying to help balance the grip n’ all but can’t stand these gimmicks now.

Funny one that, probably worth doing you only need one half hour to be better so doing 7:30-9 would make sense with a west facing array

Dump the battery prior to the free hour, then let the batteries charge at maximum rate, and if you have an EV charge that as well, just remember there is a hard maximum of 16 kWh of free electricity.

Funny how they have brought in the hard maximum. Feels like the screw is continuously tightened on us who have invested in solar and batteries. Like Reef, I ll be producing a strong amount on Sunday all going well so no point in me doing it for literally pennies.
And it will continue to tighten unfortunately. The economics of it all for energy companies doesn't really stack up.

Thing is the hard maximum isn't that far from the max you should pull anyway unless on 3 phase.
Oh no doubt, just have to get smarter with how we use our systems
For now….
Probably why they brought it in, my friend on a 3PH Sig set up does very well in power/save hours.

Anyway, I signed up for Octopus and will export a bit in the last session. My baseline is close to zero there (import and export) so 15 minutes at say 3kw should easily trigger the checkbox of taking part and showing a reduction.
Once the details are out for Sunday I can decide to part take or not and what exactly.
The weather forecast is overcast (kinda) for Sunday so lunchtime type session I can fairly easily do a fairly high usage session I think.
