The Silent Hill: Townfall thread

Apparently there's a mod on nexus for it but as usual it's UE5 so if you have the stutters then you're stuck with them until the dev patches the game, which is apparently very soon here.

How do I fix these ****** UE5 stutters
maxresdefault.webp

Turning off reflex and Gsync sorted my issues out with flicker and judder for the most part.

F flicker and F judder!

Only some traversal stutters here, first 30 mins weren't great but after that, it's pretty smooth the whole time. Game looks absolutely fantastic especially when you get to the deeper red version.

You may just not notice it, different people have different levels of sensitivity to it assuming VRR is actually enabled and working. Olled vrr flicker affects every single oled panel on the market today, it's just a limitation of the tech currently.

Just played with the new gaming mouse and yeah even with Reflex off (I prefer it here as there is panning judder with it on) there is no observed mouse input latency or the usual UE5 elastic camera latency with the mouse. This is quite excellent, just feels like a quick reacting movement like on a normal FPS game that is not UE5.

5090 just heightens the 1% lows ceiling vs say a 4090, it won't eliminate vrr flicker as this issue is hardware bound to oled panels today, it will just reduce the frametime pacing as the 1% lows are higher so the oled panel has to dynamically update the refresh rate less drastically in games that have weak optimisation (all UE5 games for example)

Following in the footsteps of SH2 Remake which is the worst optimized/stuttery game I've ever played.

Maybe Konami will figure it out in 2030 with SH1 Remake and UE6? :D

No it isn't, mrk said they fixed it all with a patch and his plays just fine. It's everyone else who is the problem :p

Well yes, as I did jump back into SH2 recently and it was as mention, a smooth experience compared to launch which everyone remembers.

Theres a horrible ongoing puzzle towards the end of the game, really obscure.

I had the puzzle difficulty set to normal throughout the game but had to refer to a guide to solve that. Not fun

Edit - Have now completed the game after around 10 hours of gametime (12 on Steam). Was intrigued by the mystery of the story, but ultimately found the end unfulfilling.

Try not to kill many enemies if you want the 'good' ending. I got the bad one
