The Silent Hill: Townfall thread

Well a 2080 is a long way less than a 5090. He could pick up a 3000 or 4000 series card as an upgrade and not bust the bank. Hang on a moment !! I've just realised, like worthabuy, your posts are repeatedly argumentative and negative at what people say...come on, admit it, you ARE the worthabuy guy, where are you hiding your bells?! :D

Ok you got me, I just put a poor PC spec down so people feel sorry for me and buy my merch.

That's why I unsubscribed

With reviewers I prefer ones where going in I have no idea what the score or outcome will be, such as Skillup or ACG.

But with WAB I know exactly what he's going to say for every game, because he is biased and doesn't care and that makes watching his videos tedious and predictable so what's the point

I've only kept subscribing as I find him entertaining in a pitiful kind of way.

The stutter in this is worse than SH2.

At 4k ultra DLSS performance I get between 80-120fps but it stutters terribly.

Should I cap my frame rate?

I think in SH2 the problem was VRR flicker so I capped it to 70fps.

In this I have left the frame rate unlocked.

---

To fix the stutter I'm gonna set a max FPS of maybe 60 and move DLSS up to maybe balanced.

The SH2 traversal stutter was never fixed. I've not played this new one but it sounds like it has the exact same stutter issues, so doubt it'll ever be right either. Pathetic stuff.

Maybe that poster will tell everyone the secret because his version apparently has no issues at all, not one stutter.

In SH2 turning off Scene Occlusion solved most of the stutter but dunno if this game even has that setting.

I've fixed 90% of my performance issues by capping it to 60fps.

Still get the occasional stutter but it's mostly smooth now.

On the topic of the game. I'm sad to report this isn't very good.

The good bits:

Graphics are pretty
Atmosphere of St Amelia
The enemies on the second level are quite scary

The bad bits:

I've moved the difficulty down from normal to story mode as I was getting frustrated with the game play loop of hide and seek with the monsters. I got frustrated doing the same area four times over.

So overall I do kind of see where worthabuy is coming from in he's poor review.

It's not completely rubbish but I'm disappointed.

SH2 is a masterpiece.
F was ok with terrible combat.
But this is the worst of the 3 so far sadly.

So far its been somewhere between a 6/10 and a 7/10 for me, leaning toward the low 6 rather than the high 7. St Amelia is definitely the highlight of the game so far.
