EV general discussion

I've actually got to do my first proper long drive after a year of EV ownership on Monday with a 300 mile round trip.

the car thinks if I charge it to 100% I can get from Bristol to Bodmin and back but I'll need to spend 8 minutes at a SC in Exeter on the return to get home with 10% remaining. Will be interesting to see how that goes.

Grow some balls and do it all on one charge - if there’s anything more than 1% battery left when you pull up on the driveway then you’re dead to me.

:D

I thought getting down to 10% was living on dangerous side

B**** please.

Did a 366 miles journey to Scotland and calculated I could get to a specific charger on the A74 on a full battery with nothing to spare as a range test (by myself).

Pulled in at 320 miles as planned with this on the display :D

I cannot stress just how tightly my cheeks would be clenched under 5%.

So even if I set it to 100% departure energy and a final arrival energy of 5% (the lowest it'll let me set it) it still thinks I need to charge for 7 minutes in Exeter.

You are almost certainly guaranteed to have speed cameras along the A30, in case you weren't aware. Not that you'll be speeding!

I find Exeter services odd, getting to it but also the layout. Plenty of charging stations when we took a break there recently.

Check to see if you get flat battery recovery/charging through your insurance, if do then YOLO!
I've had it added to my last 2 policies without them actually mentioning it, only noticed when I went looking for something else in my documents.

Trust me, i know....... :o

I'm pretty sure I have it with my bank already but I'd jus rather not have the inconvenience of it when i can just pop into the services for a snack anyway

I’ve got it with Admiral - just have to put up with the guy coming out and slapping you round the face for being an idiot after he’s plugged you in.

Apparently if you drive past one in a BMW M2 with cruise control set to 77 you do not get a letter in the post.

They got a very nice picture of my S3 a few years ago. I was right on the cusp of not getting instant points and got offered the course instead.

I remember seeing it on the other side of the road thinking "ah they wont get me".... They got me alright  17 years of driving and I was always proud to say I never got a ticket came to an end at that point.

I should've known better as I used to drive down to Saint Austell probably once every few months but clearly I was out of practice lol.

I did the course earlier this year, so I'm grateful that they either weren't looking at me, or 77 is below what they prosecute for. What annoyed me is on both occasions there was severe lag with Waze, where it only announced the van was there as I was staring at it!

you guys broke the first rule:
do what you want, don't get caught

I'd have a Model Y if it had a higher towing limit and if I could get over the looks. To me it looks as if someone plugged in a pump to a Model 3 and pumped it up to 11, just can't get that thought over my head.
Personally can't get over the looks of the Model Y. I'm not a fan of it and that isn't SUV hate. There are other SUVs that look better to me. The only Tesla that I would've considered was the Model S if it was still around, but that isn't an SUV obviously.
