Right so the boy wants some "drippy" looking tracksuits, according to my 9 year old that means cool.

I went hunting for these "drippy" track suits and basically all the ones he likes and says some of his mates have similar too seem to be on shein.

Shein seems to be basically temu, and I hate temu, I hate the website I hate the app, the constant alerts and basic inability to be able to move around the app or website without a pop up or 90% off offer every other click is really annoying.

Anyway after I've gone through all this rubbish, I then gave myself with the question, all the photos look like they are AI, what if the material is rubbish, the quality being poor (very high chance) or the fit is just all wrong.

Lots of people buy off temu, so must be sort of kosher and I'll have to take a chance that what I buy has a high probability of just being crap.

How can I sort the wheat from the chaff so to speak, only deal with good sellers etc?

Shein is basically all fake designer gear, grab genuine stuff preloved stuff from vinted instead, that's what I do for my kids, they grow out of it in weeks anyway so zero point buying it brand new

It basically is. It's a revolving door of "fast fashion" and a scourge on society and the environment. It's made cheap, to not last and to be binned for next season.

You don't. There are no good sellers. It's tossable trash all the way down.

the quality is really poor, my doris is a fan of finding bargains and every single thing maybe with the exception of a pair of joggers i use for decorating has been sent back as they are unwearable the quality is so poor. I expect that there are probably some bits on there that are ok but I wont use it. Vinted seems to be much better imo

Temu of clothes.

I bought a joke shirt from it and it was nanometres thin.

Impressive they could make something so ******

That's what I do for me.

Yes this is often the way. There is some nice stuff on Aliexpress (only China direct market place I use) but anything cheap is very very tacky.

Fast fashion is a huge environmental problem. And shows no sign of slowing down.

Is actually crazy how cheap to can get stuff from China. You can get brand new stuff cheaper, delivered, than the cost of just postage in the UK!

Wife spends her life on here. I have a few ok tshirts and pairs of socks/pants from there and the quality is questionalble but fine for everyday

Agree...get him some nice jeans and a casual collared shirt...

I really wish I could, he looks really good dressed smart but the little **** then complains for hours or the rest of the day he feels uncomfortable and refuses to attend school disco etc if we try, normally ends up with us telling him off and we all end up grumpy. I do sympathise with him feeling uncomfortable is awful and being forced to be uncomfortable makes it 10 times worse, maybe it's a phase he'll grow out of

So I have no experience with it, but I know someone who has. What they've bought has been fine, and in one case better made than something from the UK which was disappointing. That said, it's hard to know if this stuff is safe because without setting fire to it, or chemical testing it, you have no idea, and that is where my issue with it is. But as for the quality of the product in other regards, the ones they got were fine or better. Does that mean it's all better? Not at all, but considering some of the stuff got a begrudging nod of approval from both a dressmaker who has a dislike for cheap chinese tat and has made stuff for the late queen, as well as a tailor, it's not like it's going to be **** for certain.

I would still avoid it, but that's me.
