call of duty 4

Which will result in a lot of money being lost on IW's part.

I disagree. I think CoD 4 will sell like hotcakes. Bear in mind that the hardcore CoD online community probably represents a tiny fraction of those who purchased CoD2 in the first place.

At the end of the day, it's two seperate games. It's like saying that CoD4 will not sell because it's not enough like World of Warcraft.

rubbish, that analogy is tosh, everyone i know who played cod1 bought cod2, so i reckon most of the people who played cod1 got cod2, which is a lot of people, and most people that have cod2 will get cod4, id say as many people are buying the game that have a previous cod game than are buying for the first time.

So? If they're buying CoD4 based on how awesome 1 and 2 were, that doesn't mean that they're expecting to play the same game in the same old WWII European Theater setting. We all like a bit of diversity in our gaming, and I find it hard to imagine that even the most "hardcore" CoD2 multiplayer guy will turn down a change of scenery.

I really don't know how you can even begin to expect that this game will not sell well (or at least as well as 1 and 2). Bear in mind it's coming to the consoles as well.

Am I the only one who thinks the lead designers explanation of what makes the game great makes him sound like an absolute and utter village idiot? "Uhh yeah you shoot new guns, you die faster. There's more shooting going on all the time, uh-huh". :D

Can't blame him for being a bit enthusiastic about his game.

Nice one :) More scripted mayhem!

Loved COD 1&2. Titles that made PC gaming great.

Don't care if it's WWII or not. New backdrop will bring variety at least.

This week we’re showing off the multiplayer perk, “Deep Impact.” Before I jump into the details of what Deep Impact allows you to do, here’s the low-down on Bullet Penetration in the game.

In Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, we’ve introduced a new Bullet Penetration system to both Single-player and Multiplayer that allows you to shoot through certain objects in the game that would normally be used as cover (i.e. Walls, floors, ceilings).

That said, what you can shoot through depends on three main variables:

* The Ballistics of the weapon you’re using.
* The relative ‘thickness’ of the object you’re shooting through.
* The distance between you and the object you’re firing into.

These three things determine IF you can shoot through the object, and if you can, how strong the bullet will be once it passes through it.

It changes the entire way you play the game; suddenly it’s not just about getting to cover, but about getting to hard cover. In multiplayer, this can change your tactics dramatically. Rather than simply picking a weapon to take into a firefight, you can carefully craft your weapon’s load out to the environment you’ll be fighting in.

Bloody hell! This game is going to be nuts. There's a little teaser of it, it looks crazy!

bigmouse u just made my day.....i love realistic bullet penetration.......i hope they have a barret light fifty in the game

I played CoD 1 & 2 & thought both were enjoyable.

I have watched 1 movie for this game & think it could be a very good game indeed. I am looking forward to the modern day setting.

On a side note, was CoD 3 only for consoles?

Yeah mate, it was PS2&3 and XBOX(360).

I really hope they nail the multiplayer this time. COD 2 was just awful after coming from COD1. Everything just felt so inprecise, and the life system was awful. And they ruined HQ mode.

They'd better bring back real HQ mode for COD4.
