hi

just checked a top games website and it says that you can buy an elite and then trade in your 360 for £140 (premium) (core £100)

not to bad if you want to save a little?

its just that i want to know if they have the new 65nm insides?

I'm pretty cetain the early elites don't.

I'll probably trade mine eventually just to cut down on wires and have a more quiet machine.

Is the Elite wireless? I can't remember!

I'm considering of bringing back an Elite from the US when I go, and just buy import games. Not sure yet though, not sure if its worth it for the price difference over there?

yeah its just this shop has a trade in on 360 premiums of £140 until the end of september if you buy or preorder an elite

perhaps the elites on release will have 65nm who knows???

MS boast a lot of new features in an elite, And with all their bad press being down to failure rates and heat problems. I'd think their headlining sales point would be the inclusion of the cooler running processor.

So considering theres no official mention of the elites containing them, I'd say it's unlikely.

Tempting but a premium can fetch more on a certain auction website.
I've been toying with this idea myself but the website you mentioned also has a 'buy now and trade in later' offer which would be handy so I could transfer my gamesaves to an Elite.

Sounds good, seen as my premium is on the way out :D

Scort.

The latest revision of Elite's and Premium's still have 90nm parts. The newer Premium boards with HDMI are rumoured to be appearing around the same time as the Elite's release in the UK but as mention, they will still be based on 90nm parts.

I would expect to start seeing 65nm parts in the US first and then UK/EU later.

I believe the drives have been changed over to a different supplier but are still just as noisy.

Not sure if the problem with the drives eating DVD's has been fixed either.

Do they have the quieter drives in these Elites? My Premium makes an absolute racket when loading.

There are 3 different types of DVD drives fitted to current 360's; Hitachi, Samsung/Toshiba and BenQ.

There isn't any definitive way of finding out before purchase which DVD you will get. Newer Elites are still fitted with any of the above drives but with the latest revision of each drive.

The quietest drives are said to be the BenQ but I can't personally vouch for this as I've only had Hitachi drives (in my launch model and my current replacement which I received on the 10th August - manufacture date of Nov 2006).

Google 360 DVD Drives and see the first link. Can't link directly as it has mod related information as well.

I'm doing this trade in.

Does anyone have any information about the data transfer cable? I would like to move over a few game saves (mainly for arcade games) and for my mrs' Oblivion save (I'll be dead if this goes missing). There's only information on the US support page at the moment.

I guess the other thing I could do is beg, borrow or buy (would rather not) a memory card to move things accross.

i think the games website will eventually post info about the cable on what to do?

but you could just try ringing microsoft and perhaps they will send you one?

afaik Microsoft said they would ship the hard drive with the cable but if you got an elite you could get the cable through the xbox website.

itll cost you as much for the HDD-PC cable as it would the mem card, just get a mem card and flog it after.

i think the cable is meant to be free isn't it?

plus the big difference is some games can't be transferred by the memory card, not to mention music, movies, demos, arcade games and the like

Gah, I want an elite :( I can never wait for things! The GF would go insane if I traded in my 360 that I bought only 3 months ago though...

Hmmmmm
