After seeing that there's going to be a new pc version of the old Bitmap Bothers game Speedball (originally on the Amiga), i was wondering, are there any other old games (from the 8bit/16bit days) that people would love to see remade on the pc?

I would love to see a remake of Paradoid (c64), and Monty on the Run (c64)...

Please feel free to post the games you would love to see converted, and the platform they were originally on... :)

Doodlebug, purely because it was my first ever platformer I think. Amiga.

The "Strike" games, they were awesome.

Chaos Engine (also bitmap brothers) - Amiga/Mega Drive.

North and South - Amiga.

Cannon Fodder.

Cannon Fodder was cool, loved the music... :)

I also liked Jet Set Willy on the c64/speccy... hehe

Just a shame all these console kiddies missed out on some of THE best games in gaming history, i would love to see em remade for the pc in glorious 3D...

Wouldn't mind seeing a remake of Street Fighter Alpha 2 (Saturn), but that's not really 'old school'.

A proper Streets of Rage 2 (MD) game would be good, not that sub-standard Beats of Rage nonsense.

Operation Thunderbolt (CPC) with mouse support would be pretty cool. There's a distinct lack of decent on-rails shooters around.

However, one caveat I would put forward is that most remade games aren't as good as we expect them to be. Sensible Soccer 2006, Outrun 2006, MicroMachines 4 etc all game out recently and were average at best.

Dungeon Master on the Amiga - I had to buy an extra 0.5mb just to run it as it needed a then massive 1mb to run :p

Elite on the BBC - nothing has come close since.

Raid over Moscow on the C64 - classic, so many styles of play on one little cassette.

Thing on a Spring on the C64 - bouncylicious!

tau ceti
dungoen master
elite
ranarama
atic atac
avalon
lords of midnight

What a game that was :)

Armour-Geddon - Amiga.

Good to see another who played this. At the time it was released it was really ambitious. Very dynamic world, gave you a lot of freedom to explore and develop stuff in a 3D world. I tried this game again recently and it's still really stylish - but difficult. The screens for applying scientists and developers to vehicles and weapons is just so nostalgic.

North & South, Walker, Cannon Fodder are all excellent games too.

I'd add Exile to the list if I had to choose one game on the Amiga platform right now. I remember being amazed at what the programmers had achieved in what appeared to be a really dynamic, responsive environment. Again, very hard game.

Xenon 2 megablast (another bitmap brothers classic from the Amiga platform)
IK + (what a quality karate game it was)
R-Type
