I'm going to try this again. I've come into this thread blind and am going to post a big  at the majority of Cyber-Mav's posts. I haven't read any of them, as this is an experiment. Can someone tell me if I was justified in this post? Thanks.

He gets a  from me too, tbh.

Mav videocard and game and dx all coming stages and how they program the games sometime the older card are left behind.
Bioshock is for dx9/10 and the 360.
Like Zefan said about textures and shaders if they doing it a different way now to HF2 then maybe it hitting the older mid range cards more.

cool, letting that sink in now, hopefully zefan is right and textures get better again in future games.

had a chance to pick up stalker today for £4.99p thought id pass up on it though since lots of people were saying its buggy etc. just read a new patch has come out for it but gonna read up on that now to see if its worth getting.

Small explanation about the crappy Bioshock Engine and why it's so un-optimizied? :P

i don;t get you? are you saying AF is bad for the engine?
in most games such as battlefield 2 i run using 16xAF since high AF level doesn;t seem to effect performance at all.

also i had the AF forced on my x1900xt card. the 7600gs is always set to application controled except where i have a profile set for a particular game. for some reason i can;t find a way to get profiles like the nvidia have on my x1900xt.

It doesnot help in bioshock that you only got low medium and high in coh or stalker and most pc games you get about 5 or 6 lvls of deltail and loads of diferent sliders to try so if you turn some down it still look good on bioshock i think there was 3 or 4 sliders with 3 lvls if you got to turn any down i would think you take a big hit in graphics.

Works fine on my lower than minimum spec laptop - at near full graphics options shadows off... It looks quite good but haven't played much seeing as I've been at the gf's all day and have been looking forward to tomorrow when I shall play it for ages wooooo.

I look at the options and see a console game, with options that would be out of place years ago in a pc game eg:- no choice or hadly any choice to contol detail take fear you have a lot more choice to finetune your setting, we on about a pc with 100's of different conponents not a console.now my card has maxed boishock out but if i had a 1 or 2year old videocard and had to turn down detail i had low meduim or high to choice from, not good enough choice really.

you hit the nail on the head there. there is as you say not enough in between settings to adjust to.
the high detail shader setting should have had inbetween settings insted of just on and off. it makes too much a difference in graphics quality.

Maybe but what i am trying to say if you hadmore options you might have been abled to tweek it better with 3 or 4 sliders and 3 levels of setting if you got to turn down any you must be getting quite a hit from it

yes i think so, if you got full game and are you using widescreen you using the mod to set the fov it looks a lot better not so zoomed in

i not got the full game, just the demo, widescreen is not really a problem for me on my main system since i use a 4:3 crt.

the 7600gs system is on a 32inch wide screen lcd so ill look into this wide angle mod you speak of.

I couldn't even play vegas on my machine, yet i can play bioshock maxed out @ 1440x900, 6xAA 16xAF forced with zero slow down.

4400+, x1900xtx, 2gb ram.

Alexisonfire, I have an identical spec to you and accidentaly played the game for 20 mins in 2d clocks. It's suprisingly playable!
