upgrade

currently have a x1900xt 512mb whats the best upgrade 2900xt or 8800 x1950xtx ???

Well as said before on these forums. If you can put up with the noise and heat and have the power to run it 2900.But its a close thing the gts 640mb is not far
behide it fps wise. a case of better driver support then the card being loads better.I would not even think about the 1950xt when you have a 1900xt not going to see huge gain in that upgrade. If it was me as the 2900 and 8800 been out sometime and you have a okish card you might want to hold of til the next gen cards in nov/dec if your have the money.I can see the gtx being as cheap
as the gts's after that rls if you cant afford the new cards.

2900 is a fair bit faster than the GTS now thanks to ATi's driver support, its even faster than the GTX/Ultra in a few cases as well, but as said above, depends if you have enough power to run it, and not bothered about the heat, noise issues (as some say they are pretty loud, while others say they are silent) , so if those don't bother you, then get the 2900, if they do, then 640mb GTS as the x1950 XTX aint worth it, as you can clock your x1900 XT to XTX speeds, and it will be the same as it give or take a frame or 2, or if you can hold out till November (which an x1900 should do), then get an even cheaper GTS, or possibly the much faster GTX, as prices should fall once G92's arrive. :)

I dunno, in Bioshock the 8800GTS 640 overclocked outperforms my 2900XT when overclocked by about 4fps....

My opinion is that it's not really worth upgrading a x1900xt-512 to anything less than a 8800GTX, at least not at current prices.
