Just got mine plugged in about 5 mins ago and noticed it is ridiculously loud in comparison to my old Premium I had last year! Is it just me :confused:
 
I got an elite on Friday from my local with an extra controller for £299.

Just in the middle of copying over the content from the 20GB drive to the 120GB drive (taking ages).

In answer to your question I can't really tell the difference between the premium and elite i think there as loud as each other :(

Just to add, I think now i've had it a day i really prefer white to black, White just looks better to my eye's
 
It seems there is no 'standard' when it comes to 360 units, they are built by several different manufacturers using different parts, you just got unlucky this time around I guess.
 
Mine has a horrible white memory card sticking out the front :( Slightly quieter than my Prem, though I didn't feel that it was loud anyway, never bothered me!

I didn't have a copy cable available, so I just went to the downloaded content list, and downloaded everything I actually wanted again.

The 360 itself should be identical no matter which factory it was built in (possibly a different manufacturer for 1 part but the same part created).

The variable is the DVD drive. Currently there is no way of finding out before purchase which DVD drive you will get.
 
It's deffo the fans making the noise, I was quite shocked as I'm used to 80mm fan noise (CoolerMaster Black Widow fanned up on my left and a Hoojum Cubit 3 with one 80mm fan in as a gaming rig). My premium last year was whisper quiet!

are you using a memory card? does it let you copy all your saves for every game?

He's mentioned in his post that he's transfering between his Premium's 20 GB and the Elite's 120 GB.

My question is how he got hold of a transfer cable so quickly?
 
I tried transfering from 20GB to 120GB Hard Drive using Executer conectivity Kit and Xport software from datel but after 4 hours of trying to move 3GB of content and still a long way off finishing i gave up :(

I ended up using the memory unit to transfer saves and then download content again, Only problem so far is Viva Pinata will not let you move it's save and my GF as put over 40 hours in to that game, to say she's upset is putting it mildly.

I really hate all this DRM ****

It's stupid how you can't transfer all your saves:mad:i've just bought a 120gb HDD off the auction site but it doesn't come with the cable and now i'm going to have to buy a frickkin transfer cable off there

You've been had then mate. The retail 120 GB is supposed to come with the cable.

Microsoft are only supplying the transfer cable (currently for free) by request if you've bought an Elite as they do not ship with the cable.
