As title really. Its been a couple of months now since the ban and was interested to hear if anyone has seen people still smoking in public places. Are there pubs that still do it? Just before then ban there seemed to be a lot of people/pubs saying that they would defy the ban.

So what have you seen? smoking? people being kicked out? fined? arrested!?

The only place i have seen smoking was in a taxi base waiting room where there were a few drivers smoking.

Not seen anyone smoking inside but I have noticed mountains of cigarette butts starting to gather outside a lot of pubs.

Seem to be all over the floor , a lot more noticalbe now and not just outside pubs. Pain in the ass really especially as you would expect street cleaners to be out more often due to the ban, seems not though!

Personally I'd expect smokers to put their butts in an ash-tray or bin rather than throw them all over the floor like animals. :) I suppose that a lot of the time I ask for far too much though.

I've absolutely not noticed this 'mountain of butts' forming outside pubs. Maybe Southampton just cleans it's streets properly, or the people here aren't retarded.

Not seen a single person light up. No mess either since most pubs have those little rubbish boxes for cigs mounted on the walls.

has seen people still smoking in public places.

Yeah, no more than 6 hours ago I witnessed two people blatantly smoking on a public street! Even when I was a smoker I never used to do that, I always made sure I was inside a pub or other such premises.

Haven't seen people smoke in clubs, but have had plenty light up while queuing to get in. Can't even move away from them either.

Plus a lot of clubs are now half empty inside while all the smokers are outside. So your outside trying to get in, when you can see plenty of space inside.

I know they have fire regs and all that, but if they spend the whole night outside they're hardly bringing the money in.

Only thing I noticed is the wall of smoke outside of every building entrance now caused by the flanking smokers.

I was saying to a friend in the pub the other day, must be a good time to be a landscape gardener as a lot of beer gardens are getting redone

Was in whetherspoons the other day and a strong smell of cigar smoke suddenly appeared. Couldn't see anyone smoking though.

I also saw someone smoking outside on a bench one day and a bunch of people walked past berating him for smoking in a public place. Somebody was misinformed :s

Most people don't have a clue what the regs are...

I've heard people explaining to mates it's ok if just 30% is covered by roof, others berating people who dare smoke outside their own houses :/

Wetherspoons in Stoke is great, all the smokers sit outside and puff away whilst all their smoke just floats into the pub! :p

Erm the information pack I received in work from the gov. only mentions enclosed public spaces are prohibited. So that would mean therefore that smoking in a public park - street is absolutely fine.
