Would you buy your mum a random present?

Odd thread this! I got a job in June and as a result I earned quite a bit of money considering my age. Now, I’m 18, I’m going to move out in Sept. for Uni. I'm thinking I should buy mum a present (no occasion!) but I’m worried she might think:
- I got into trouble
- I'm gay
- Suspect something fishy

I've never turned up out of the blue with a present for mum, only on occasions such as birthdays.

I'm thinking of buying my mum Abba's anthology. She loves them but hardly talks about them.

Or shall I play it cool and forget the idea? If I do buy my mum something she’ll suspect something! :p

Edit: God's sending me a sign! The track in my playlist "Abba - Fernando" just played! :p

Edit 2: I really haven't got a clue who put that track in! :p

Buy her the gift. You don't need an excuse to spoil your parent. I plan to spoil my mother when I'm older, as revenge for her doing so to me.

Go for it.

no way dude, dont do it

she will suspect your a homosexual who got into trouble with something fishy :D

random works, i tend to buy family members random stuff once in a while (usually if it is something that is on a real great offer)

for example got mum a watch much better than her 15 year old one, cost me a tad over £16 :)

Sometimes I'll buy my parents random gifts if i'm out and see something I think they'd like. As you're moving away to uni I think that's a perfectly good reason to give your mum something. It does no harm to show parents you appreciate them now and again because they aren't always going to be there and I know I would regret it if I didn't.

i got my mum & dad a present after my first couple paychecks, partially to thank them for what they've done for me and partially so they'd buy me a good christmas present :D

Your mother is a woman (I hope)... women love random presents.

Plus you get to play on the whole give them a present and they expect bad news... :D

I bought my mum a cake tin the other day. How random?! Mind, I'm gay, so it's OK for me to do that :P

"Mum, I'm gay"

"oh, and here's a cake tin."

Guys... are you slow or something? Cake tin? CHOCOLATE FUDGE cake?

Jeez. Takes a gay to be homophobic these days :p

i started doing more chores around the house, train my self for uni AND helping her at the same time. Also im being nice to her by downloading lots of films and music for her these days, its called 'getting the most of what you already got'.

why dont you give it a ago?

Yeah i do now and again too, even if its just a box of chocolates, doesnt have to be anything big.

It means a lot more to recieve for no reason than to recieve for a specific date imo!

I've been 'out' to my parents for years now, so no, the cake tin had nothing to do with anything like that ;)
