Are people still smoking in public places?

Erm the information pack I received in work from the gov. only mentions enclosed public spaces are prohibited. So that would mean therefore that smoking in a public park - street is absolutely fine.

I think your sarcasm detector may need an update.

Hell yeh!!
I will not let our corrupt government dictate what I can or cannot do!
Yes I have respect for non smokers and abide by most rules, but when my housing association starts plans to stop smoking in their flats etc then hell, they can take a run and jump off the nearest cliff!:D
Next I'll be told I can't have more than one computer because of the carbon footprint thingy:rolleyes:

I'm annoyed atm as i just spent ages typing in a post to another forum and it logged me out. Then my little essay was gone (even using the back button) - Now I can't be bothered to do it again :D

They law doesn't cover homes but it does cover the internal corridors to flats. I think the only part of the law that concerns peoples homes is that workmen, e.g. someone installing a phone line to your home, can turn the job down if its a smoking enviroment and their employer has to honour this and find another employee to do the work. Having said that, any landlord can specify non-smokers only in their properties but thats not a legal matter.

All they said in their letter was they will bring in a non-smoking rule on all their properties....
Ah well You may be right, our ha isn't the best of 'em

around here ther seems to be a 70-80% compliance

there are not pubs that are openly encouraging smoking but I often see folks smoking in pubs with no action taken

I am loving the smoking ban, never felt better being in the pub and the morning after, not really seen anybody smoking in the pub but seen a few sad **** smoking the toilet, might aswell go outside.

I've seen someone smoking in Carlisle train station. They were promptly informed by one of the Virgin staff that it was illegal to do so, and to put it out immediately.

I blazed a doobie at Banbury trainstation

At the very eeeend, where the train spotters sit

i work in a pub, since ban only 1 person has tried to smoke, when i said get out he claimed senial dementia and said he forgot about the ban, he is like 90 so i accepted dementia.lol
but yeh its very noticeable when people smell of smoke, even if ther jus a smoker but havnt smoked in hours they still reek. dirty people

yea some ol' woman lit up in 'subway' and she was removed, was really annoying like....and it was always a no smoking place lol

As title really. Its been a couple of months now since the ban and was interested to hear if anyone has seen people still smoking in public places. Are there pubs that still do it? Just before then ban there seemed to be a lot of people/pubs saying that they would defy the ban.

So what have you seen? smoking? people being kicked out? fined? arrested!?

The only place i have seen smoking was in a taxi base waiting room where there were a few drivers smoking.

I think you'll find that the majority of people were saying that they would defy the ban anyway etc were just showing the usual bravado.

Post a thread here about TV Licensing or Religious people coming to visit you and your thread will be filled by people telling you how they slam the door in their faces, say this, say that, do this, do that.
It's all rubbish and nothing more than keyboard warriors doing what they do best - sounding so cool.
