good afternoon all.

im having a spot of bother with my computer

windows will not load, it failed to load once then offered the start windows normally and start with last known good config ect.

now constantly get these options and i have tried all of them.

when i pick start normally nothing happens it just stays on that screen,

when i pick last known good config same thing happens, well nothing does really!

and the same when i select safe mode too. please any help accepted!

That doesn't sound to good, especially if the "safe mode" option doesn't work either. Can you boot from the CD and do a repair install? Then at least that way, you can rescue anything from your hdd and then perhaps format and start fresh...

I take it no message appears or anything, it just hangs?

What happens if you try booting with individual memory dimms? Or perhaps reseting your BIOS/CMOS... worth a shot. :)

^^^^Holy moly at your sig fella...best get that fixed before a Don sees it

Have a look at the FAQ where it states:

You may use a signature (commonly used in email messages) in your posts. You can specify in your profile a signature to use at the bottom of your posts. When you post, there is an option to use your signature. A signature may contain one or more images but they must fit within a box with maximum dimensions of 400 x 75 pixels (width x height) and with a maximum (combined) file size of 20k. Images containing mostly very large words or animated .gifs will not be permitted. You may also add 1 consecutive lines of normal or smaller text directly above or underneath the image with no spaces inbetween image and text. If no images are used then up to 4 consecutive lines of normal or smaller text is permitted. Do not pad out your text lines with blanks lines. A line of text is defined as having a maximum length of 400 pixels. If you want to turn the signature off in the future, you can come back and edit your post. If you have specified a signature in your profile, the box will be automatically ticked for you.

Alright, I see what you say but no I select partiton 1 C: and I do not get the option to repair the installation.

Sounds strange... how bigs the hdd? You could partion the drive, install windows again to the new partition... and then like before, save all your stuff and just format the entire drive and start again.

yes got data i need to recover, lol, its 160 GB. fortunaltly i have a second HDD what im gonna do is install to the second HDD and then pull the data across. and format the old one.

I have managed to recover my computer, but it was left in a not so good state no programs worked, and all user accounts were deleted, but i managed to recover the data from docs and settings.
