Now most Bars, Pubs will only serve you if you look under 21 with a Passport or Driving Licence.

Does the Passport have to be in date?

I am nearly 21, and at the weekend got refused with a passport thats expired.

Thing is i've been using it for 2 years (while expired), without anyone else refusing it.

Change in the law or just no-ones bothered to check the Expiry date?

No change in law, it's just that pub. Just sounds like they didn't want you in there.

I used to drink in there a lot, when I was with my ex.

This time the only difference was that i was wearing a shirt, jeans & shoes as opposed to a tee, jeans & trainers.. :confused:

My only argument, is that even though its expired. My D.O.B hasn't changed.

A bar/pub can ask for whatever id they want, so its just their policy I guess. Its not that uncommon for places to reject expired passports. Just get a provisional like everyone else tbh.

Bouncer probably having a bad day and wanting to take it out on people. Nothing you can do, they don't have to let you in.

Most places ask for id if you don't look21 theres been signs every where for ages, they porbs only ask for drivers or passport as they are harder to fake than most thongs so they are less likely to get in trouble.

Thing is the Bouncers outside let me in with it. Just the barstaff refused.

I got into places using my expired passport. It did result in me getting ripped by the bouncers as i was like 10 in the photo. If you look different show them your bank card to match the details on your passport(got me into a place).

I use my provisional now but still sometimes get id'd at the bar aswell,well i did when i got my hair cut and styled.

Just get a driving licence, it fits in your wallet and doesn't expire (or at least for a very long time.

There's no law. It's upto the person who's serving you (not the bouncers) to make sure you're old enough. AS to what method they use to acertain that is upto the bar staff.

Jonny, yeah i've been using mine for like 2 years while expired always worked.

Just wondering if theres anything in the law about it really.

Well they can argue that they can only accept credible photo ID. A picture of me when i was 10 looks completely different from me aged 18/19 with long straight hair compared to a 2 back n sides.

Spar near me have if you look under 25 you can be ID, what a joke that is.

wont matter about the expiry date in nearly everywhere , dont think hardly anywhere would even check

ive seen people getting into bars clubs up here with crumpled up edited in photoshop photocopies of there passport

Upto them, they dont have to serve you anything. They dont even need a reason its upto them.

Not really, they have a right to Id EVERYONE. The thing is not everyone looks the same. They have to ensure they don't serve anyone under age. There's a lot less risk of them being caught if they check everyone under 25, than 21. It's not just the bar/shop who gets fined. It's also the person who's serving.

I agree. I dont mind being ID'd as if it stops the scum around here obtaining alcohol,even ever so slightly,then its a good thing.

I remember some wee **** from a home across from the off license was showing me how sharp his key was by running it down his face in a "you getting ripped" motion. My mate gave him a bottle of red sqaure :mad:

n we came home that way and he was wasted!

Personally i wanted to boot **** out for his sheer cheek but my mate **** it. :mad:

It also stops "look av got the equivilant of orange juice" pics.
