Can anyone recommend a way to get a car from Chichester, West Sussex back to Dunstable.
Short story of a long one.....I need to get a car back from a police compound (within 14 days) dont have either a) a trailer or b) a tow bar - and it HAS to have all 4 wheels of the road (there insistance)
Nothing dodgy ;) :D
It looks like a 110 mile trip door to door - ideally this has to be done as cheap as possible and im not in the AA or RAC
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Rent a low-loader to take you a mile down the road, then once out of sight of said police impound, drive it :p

Not that I'd advocate driving around in a non-road-worthy vehicle ;)

I had to bite the bullet and pay for a transporter to get the 205 from Wales to Leics (183 miles) last week.

Mailed 15-20 companies on ebay, some replied, some didn't, quotes ranged from under £150 to over £350!

I used this guy - http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/preeceiceautos/ - he did it next day, emailed him the details and the job was done. Cheapest by far too, he uses a VW transporter on LPG. His name is Dave. Will text you his number now.

I would never drive a non-roadworthy vehicle ;) unfortunatley this one is a non-runner as its been standing for a while....so even I would hesitate at trying to get it running, then a mad dash around the M25 and up the M1!

Leon, you are a star, thanks.
Ive also found a couple more who are close to the car, have dropped them e-mails to see what they say

Yet again (and you now know the story!) I have to ask myself - how they hell do I get myself into these sort of escapades :D

Leon,
I owe you a beer sometime :D Your recomendation (even though he has to travel the furthest) is also the cheapest!
Lord knows how some of these companies work their rates out, 2 local ones (within 5 / 10 miles of the car have quoted silly amounts, not matching there E-Bay add's at all!)
Cheers :D

search on line for car transporters. Fill in all the quote pages. Should be able to get it for cheaper than rental of your own van.

Edit - NVM I should read all of the thread first.

Cool, Dave's alright. I couldn't believe the difference in quotes I received.....

I have used him too, cheapest on eBay by far, and he transported 2 of my cars on the same night (Picked one up from somewhere down south, forget where, and pick another in Loughborough!)

I also think I will be needing to use him again soon to transport one of the cars he picked up on that night to my fiancées house :(
