Hi,

Can anyone recommend me a good value newsgroup provider? It doesn't have to be unlimited, about 30gb a month would be enough. I was looking at giganews + newsleecher free but thats £10 a month. Are there any good ones for less?

Also, is newsleecher the best program to use? Is it worth paying for?

Cheers.

I use Easynews wich gives you 20gig every 30 days plus allows you to roll unused gigs over. Can use the web interface for d/loads so no need for a news reader and costs about £5 for every 20gigs. Oh and retention is 40 days I think. Im no newsgroup expert tho and I would imagine a few regulars will be in here telling you different; but thats my 10pence worth!

Giganews gets my vote too, 200 day binary retention, good pricing, optional entire encryption, newsgroups command and authentication encryption for free through their accelerator, nothing else can come close.

I use the Giganews/Newsleecher combo myself, it's just fantastic. Especially on a 20mb line :D

Giganews and newsleecher best imo, if you sign up for giganews account through newsleecher, they have a offer which gives you newsleecher+super search free but its only on there unlmited accounts.

can some one please explain this to me
Newsgroups, or usenet, is a service you pay for to get downloads at the full speed of your connection. People upload stuff to a particluar newsgroup, which the provider has access to and keeps the file for a while. You then get it off their server.
Basically, it's for getting stuff like you would with torrents without the traffic shaping and without the uploading part

I used to use Thundernews becacuse it was the only one I could find that let me use PayPal. I have since come to my sences and got Giganews. I will never look back!

Used to use Giganews but now am with UseNetServer which is both cheaper and seems to offer me the same performance. Maxes out my 20MB line anyway.

I tried usenetserver but not impressed tbh, it has a lot less groups than giganews over 60.000 where as giga has over 110.000 and the speeds are abit eratic, i tested the trial account and where as i was maxing out on giganews usenetserver wasn't no where near, giganews for the win you pay for what you get in the end.
