I am hoping some of you are salary/tax whizz-kids and can help me out with a query. I am not trying to show off or upset anyone so please don't jump down my throat - I just need a simple answer to a simple question.

I have been offered a new job at £40K, how much will my pay be each month?

I am currently on £30K, but do a lot of overtime so my current pay is around £2800. The new job is working from home four days a week though so that really fits perfectly into my new life situation. Obviously I also wouldn't have to do the overtime so that's great as well.

TIA.

I'll say data mining, but it's more focused then that, but essentially that's what it is.

Call me a noob, but I don't know what that is :o

Congrats on the job though! Sounds like a dream come true for me! I would dearly like to work from home so we didn't have to have some random look after our son :(

40K a year, be about £800 a week before tax, as your PAYE about 27% off for tax/insurance so about £600 a week? ish....

Not bad wage for read books is it lol...

That's why I am considering accepting. My GF and I seperated over a month ago and she's three months pregnant. We're still good friends though, we just couldn't live together any more - too many arguments.

If I accept the job then that means I can look after my son/daughter for three days each week while my GF returns to work part-time. No childcare costs for her, quality time with the child for me and it doesn't prevent me doing my work, as I can do it during the evening when the child has been collected.

Everyone wins basically.

That's it mate, it's an idea solution for the childcare problem.

It's not the costs that put me off child care though, I want to raise my son MY (and the gf's) way. Not someone else's.

The problem with me is, I'm pretty much completely unqualified, which means no-one will consider me for any home based jobs at all.

I'd say I'm more than capable of anything thrown a me, but because I was a lazy rebel at school I'm paying the price now :(

Wish there was a job that would take me on based on my IQ rather than my qualifications. :(

I was earning £40k earlier in the year & my take home was just short of £2500
