As you can see the 2900XT competes nicely with the GTX in BioShock. But it does say that 2900XT performance is not as good on Vista as it is on XP but I am sure ATi are working on that specifically for the DX10 side of things. Anyway for anyone that is interested here are the XP DX9 tests and some CPU + Memory tests. Pretty good review from GS. Glad I stuck with XP :D

xp performance is good, vista performace is bad.

wish they tested the x1900xt and the x1950pro on the vista and xp to see if there was a difference in performance too.

I can only presume the Vista performance is bad because somehow DX9 mode just isn't enabling. DX10 mode is a bit of a performance cripple for the 2900's till DX10 performance is improved through drivers.

Put this into perspective...

nvidia's DX10 drivers = nearly 1 year old

ATi's DX10 drivers = 4 month's old

Still loads of DX10 work to do for ATI.

Only because they cant use AA, then the 2900 would explode through the strain :D

Doubtful. Looking at those numbers there is plenty of headroom for the 2900 to do some AA and still compete fairly well. It's 20FPS faster than the GTS in DX9 XP.

Nice.. obviously ATi need to fix the Vista drivers then we'll see some proper DX10 benchmarks. First time I've seen the 2900xt seriously outperforming a GTX and boy am I happy ;)

They could have said what areas them benchmarks were done in, for example I had 112fps average after about 30 mins of gameplay in the Medical Pavillon.

All high @1440x900 16xAF.
