settlers 6, anyone played demo/beta?

What's it like, it looks REALLY good imo by the vids and such. Grabbing the demo atm, wondered what peoples views on it are?
 
It's OK but it's far removed from the classic games in the series such as The Settlers II. I like how you can upgrade buildings and it plays fairly well. Combat seems poor to be honest although the Beta demo only gives you a little taste of it. I honestly can't say whether I would purchase the game though. Maybe if it was available at a low price I would consider it. The Anno 1701 expansion is a much more likely purchase for me than The Settlers VI at the moment.
 
How would you compare it to anno? Thats another game i fell in love with and found it very fun, yet way too short.

(also found settlers for 18quid delivered which is fairly cheap tbh.)

You mention the expansion? Any link?

haha :) it isn't redirecting to one though, it's an actual direct link? :D I enjoyed Settlers 1 and loved 2. Thought 3 was pretty good but didn't really get on with 4. Not played 5 and didn't bother with the 3D ones as they looked crap. Might give this a try though, looks alright.
 
Settlers II: 10th Anniversary was the ultimate Settlers for me... it retained all the classic gameplay of the original two while adding the 3D engine. Great stuff. :)

Settlers III, IV etc were gash though imo.
 
I've honestly never heared of the settlers series before, but as i mentioned the videos for this look hell-a-fun :D I'll mini review when ive grabbed the demo, 25mins left :)

If you've never played any then you haven't got any of the other games in the series to compare it to which might be a good thing as it went slowly downhill after 1, 2 and 3.

Think I'll try 10th Anniversary Edition though :)

Nowhere near as good as Anno 1701 although it's a slightly different kind of game. The Anno expansion is listed on that Jersey shop for 26th October.

It's a really good game and I can't believe they didn't use it as a basis to make future titles. After all most fans of The Settlers don't acknowledge The Settlers III, IV or V do they so let's just forget about them. :)
 
Anyone got a link please? I played the demo of the 10th anniversary version and loved it but could never find the damn thing for sale anywhere.
 
tried settlers 2 and i cant get into it, took me about an hour to find out how to make a farm.

And I dont know how to "expand" my boarders?

I'm preffering the settlers 6 demo atm.
 
lol I was confused when I first played the game too, but once you get into it hours fly by just building up the economy and not even concentrating on completing the missions, it's scary. :D
