CBT is around £80-100 i think, and theory and practical prices will be on the gov site :p and as for lessons depends on if you do with a club and go down each week and pay anywhere from £10-20's a lesson, or do an intensive cource which is into the hundreds and includes your practical usually

Ah cool, thanks :)

I had a look at the new GSXR600 in Black, a seriously sexy bit of kit

Link in Chelmsford are the nuts - give them a ring :)

Seriously very very good school.

Will do! :)

Be doing it after this month, half tempted just to take a crash course in it so it's out of the way and the 2 year restriction can start disappearing, gives me the winter to save up for the gixxer600 then! :D

Hard luck mate.

Not suprised though, I would think it would be near impossible to pass without any instruction, life savers will catch anyone out esp. with no tuition as you need to do them for just about any approaching hazzard, change of speed limit, crossings etc & not just turns.

I failed, still with no instructor and I'd only driven around Chelmsford twice before I did pretty good I think... Was so nervous I almost went through a red at a junction, kind of a big junction with many lights and I started to go on the wrong light... was kinda confusing. Aside form that I apparently wasn't doing enough life savers... although I felt sure I was covering all bases. My first attempt went pretty much as I expected although I thought I'd get hit up on road postitioning... this time was a 'hope I pass but if not atleast I know what its like' run... next time will be a 'I'm going to *&%$^& well pass this time *grrrrrr*' run :)

How old are you. I'd recommend going direct access if you're over 21.

I would if I was over 21, I'm 19 :)

Quick question regarding the crash courses, I'm going to ring today but I wondered if it can be done over a series of Weekends? I work full time during the week.

And to the above, yeah if I got the gixxer600 I'd get it in black, I saw a blue and white one go past today and it sounded mean  he also flopped a wheelie and went down the road - git! :p

You can do it basically whenever you want.

I did a CBT one weekend, then two days of instruction and my test starting the next weekend going to the Tuesday.

If you ring them they'll explain it all, you could book and pay for a five day DAS, then do it over two or three weekends, or just spot them around whenever you pleased, although it's cheaper to book in one go.

Cool beans! Ringing them at lunch to get some prices.

Ok, got some prices.

CBT = £105

I got prices for 3day and 4 day courses which include a CBT, theory and practical a 3 day course is £399 and a 4 day is £465. Prices seem good :) Going to book for September me thinks :D

Damn I failed again, this time I wasn;t anywhere near as nervous... apparently all my life savers were good this time round (same examiner)... but apparently I forgot to inidcate twice in right or left turn only lanes... think that was a bit off but they were only minors. However I had a serious fault with a mini roundabout that was very poorly marked (couldn't even see it 10m away from it) and a bus coming up from the right that I let go cos I wasn't sure where the mini roundabout was that I was supposed to go right on. However he said I hesitated... sounds a bit picky to me especially when there was no traffic behind me.

However I also got a serious fault on entering a bit of dual carriageway in the fast lane from a 30 zone and couldn;t remember the speed limit (no signage) so I was doing 30 in a 40... that I do agree was a serious fault.

Third time lucky hopefully :)

Gilera really know how to sell a scooter.

:D

I swear that motorbike is staring at her pootang .

GOnna have one more try before I get training... I mean the stuff I failed on is easily fixable, I fixed the life savers by myself and now I'm always doling them to the level I need to, I kicked myself for being stupid enough to forget to indicate at two turns and the other two could be put down to the fact that I have only driven around chelmsford, where I took the test, 5 times... including the tests :)

I just musn't get complacent :D

I passed today on my third go, and have decided against the Mp3 400 and have really let myself fall in love ith the Fuoco 500 though I'll have to get it restricted to 33Bhp for those first two years, might be able to afford it by next year and I also have to convince the wife... so I spent £180 learning from the examiner rather than a few hundred £'s learning from an instructor savig my self a little towards a new bike/scooter :)

EDIT: Oh and I have gained a lot from the experience, as well as a lot of self satifaction that I did it by myself. A good life lesson learnt and I look forward to continually learning :)

I actually love the Fuoco 500 & have a friend who has just bought one, not cheap though £5000

Might get one myself soon as wet weather/winter transport.

How does it ride? When I am hunting round for reviews a lot of them are very generic straight from the makers mouth type of reviews that are just hype. I have yet to read a decent real review.

Interesting I hadn't read that one before, I'd still like to hear more about your mates opinions, did he go for black or a flash of red? :)
