512Mb version just dont cut it at 1680x1050 wanted to wait until the 9800's or whatever but can't wait much longer as bioshock is killing me having to drop res as I'm a graphics junkie.

so is it better to wait or get a 2900xt / 8800gts now ?

Im in the same situation as you, but im trying to hold of upgrading until the 9800's are out.

Only 2 months away.

Bioshock is not going anywhere, Im not too bothered about wating two months.

Again though is it proven that the new cards will come out in 2 months? I haven't seen any hard evidence to suggest that they are.

Nothing concrete, but probably before xmas for the market then.

The highest end card might get held back until AMD release their next version as Nvidia don't need to rush things. If Nvidia do this then they will start work on the NEXT card before AMD have even rolled out the card after the X2900.

We will still see the toned down versions around the xmas period I think. The proper full blown version will get released to do more damage to AMD I reckon. Probably a few weeks before the next AMD launch.

After the 8800GTX, I can't see Nvidia messing anything up this generation.
