Just runnng prime on my new rig (GO) 449 x 8 so 3.6 Ghz, temps currently sitting at 63.

Rig consists of:-

Intel Core 2 Quad LGA775 Q6600 GO SLACR 2.40GHz Retail / Abit IP35 Pro / 2GB Crucial Ballistix PC2-8500C5

I'm currently running memory 1:1 400Mhz which is probably conservative, what timings should I use?

Hi there

The Abit IP35 Pro makes clocking memory easy.

Get your CPU at your desired overclock and FSB speed that is stable.

Now set your memory divider so your RAM is running between 1100-1200MHz.

Use 2.2v for RAM voltage and for timings use 5-5-5-15.

thats pretty much what i do, 2.3v will do 1333mhz 5,5,5,15

Is that on air?

Also do you think it would be possible to do that with the 5300 stuff or really only the 8500?

Hi there

The 5300, 6400 and 8500 from Crucial all use Micron modules. However I suspect that Micron/Crucial speed bin the chips. So even though in most cases a 5300 kit will run at 8500 speeds you will no doubt get better overclocks with the 8500 kit as in theory it will have better yield chips. :)

My memory seems to be crapping out way below that, now I know to enter the memery timings you have to disable SPD, but I'm not sure where to put the 5-5-5-15 as I have:-

tCL
TRD
tRP
tRAS
tRFC
tWR
tWRT
tRRD
tRTP
Command Rate

it's been a bit of a while since I've overclocked and unfortuantely it's not like riding a bike, I forgot bucket loads ;)

Think I may have answered my own questions, is it

5-5-5-15 refers to a tCL of 5, tRCD of 5, tRP of 5, and tRAS of 15

should I leave the rest as auto?

They are, and yes you can leave the others on Auto for the time being.

I don't seem to be having much luck with this memory, if I try and push my clocks to

445 x8 with a 1:1.20 divider (DDR1068) @ 2.3v (pretty much what th memory is rated at).

I get problems in Prime 95, if I put them back to 1:1 (DDR890) then it all works OK!

This would seem to be a problem with the memory right, the CPU seems happy just the memory seems unhappy if I push it above DDR890

Actually what should I nudge, currently I have

CPU Core Voltage 1.3950
DDR2 V 2.3
CPU VTT 1.23 (other setting are 1.20 and 1.27)
MCH 1.25 1.29
ICH 1.05v 1.32
ICHIO 1.5v 1.60
DDR2 Reg Voltage +2%
CPU GTLREF 0&2 67%
CPU GTLREF 1&3 67%
