New build....any advice?

Hi,
After HSBC kindly increased my overdraft this year i've decided to build a new PC. I like to think of it as free money...and i am happy in my delusion.

Anyway, here's the set-up i'm thinking of:

I already have a power supply, 2 Hard drives and dvd writer.

The only thing missing from the list is a case...which i have been searching for, for the past couple of hours but am still undecided. (quite frustrating)

So, any thoughts on the build? Everything look like it'll work together ok?

and if anyone has any advice on a case (hoping to spend under £100) then it will be greatly appreciated.

Why not get the new G0 quad core for that price.
I would change that heatsink for the tuniq tower 120
or thermalright 120 extreme the thermalright is about 2 c cooler than the tuniq
but doesn't come with any fans so you are looking at a big price with a fan
however the tuniq tower does come with a fan and controller which is perfect for the akasa eclipse front pci slot.As for case each to their own.
If your not bothered about looks and just want performance
and ease of use get an akasa eclipse 62 for looks get a lian li pc 7+.

I've got an antec TrueBlue 480W which was in my old PC....and my overall budget is around £700.

sorry, are you talking about replacing the E6850 duo with a quad core? if so which one do you think i should get. Tbh the pc will mostly be used for gaming, so investing in a quad core would not be essential nor particularly beneficial. (but maybe i'm wrong)

This would be a superb looking and performing rig.
Madness not to get the new quad now i am sure others will tell you the same.

Possibly alternatives:

Lian-Li PC-7 PLUS II Aluminium Midi-Tower Case - Black £58.74 Inc VAT

OcUK GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - OEM (this week only) £293.74 Inc VAT

If your using rig for gaming i'd spend more on gfx, less on case. Which resolution do game at? What is the highest res your monitor supports?

In the long term, the quad core would be a better alternative on the cpu front.

looking at the benchmark results on 'toms hardware', the E6850 out performs the quad 6600 on several occasions...especially on the games....so I still reckon its the best choice. Once the higher end quad core processors get cheaper then i may think about upgrading....but otherwise it would be better to stick with the E6850 imo. What you think? and yeh that Lian-Li PC-7 looks nice.

A £50 core 2 duo will clock to the same level as a 6850 easily under a good cooler.
The 6850 will be worth less than the quad in 6 months time.
If you are overclocking the quads the best choice if you are not overclocking
the quads the best choice.
The quad will match the 6850 if you clock it to 3ghz which is not rocket science
these chips are made for overclocking.
I had never overclocked in my life until i got a duo and if i can do it safely
and relax about it in 5 mins anyone can.
I can make my 6420 out perform the 6850 with a mild overclock.
